Lees-McRae steals everything at CVAC
Championships
Laurinburg, NC > Lees-McRae men's and women's cross country
teams swept the 1999 CVAC Cross-Country Championships hosted by St.
Andrews College earlier today. Point totals for the
Bobcats men's and women's teams were 39 and 41, respectively.
Takamichi Hayashi of Lees-McRae was awarded both
the Freshman of the Year award and the Runner of the Year award
after finishing first in the men's race with a time of 26:01.
Lees-McRae's Amanda Cook took the Runner of
the Year award and first place in the women's race with a time of
19:00. Craig McPhail, the mastermind behind
the Bobcats' successful programs, was named both Men's and Women's
Cross-Country Coach of the Year.
Belmont Abbey's men's team finished 2nd with a point total of 71,
while Barton College took 3rd with a total of 72. Barton's
women's team finished 2nd with a total score of 78, led by Freshman
of the Year Renee Weeks. Erskine College
rounded out the top 3 with a score of 82.
