Player of the
Year:
Adam Hedges, Belmont Abbey
Hedges' honor caps off a highly decorated career. The four year
standout from Bromely, England was named the Conference Carolinas
Player of the Year in 2012 and 2013, and was a first-team
All-American and academic All-American in 2012. On the course, he
led the nation in scoring average for four weeks and qualified for
the NCAA Regionals as an individual. In 2013, Hedges won three
tournaments as he was the number ranked number one in the region in
stroke play and was named the Conference Carolinas Men's Golf
Player of Year.
Freshman of the
Year:
Sebastian Andersen, Mount Olive
Andersen becomes the first-ever Trojan men's golf freshman
of the year winner. A freshman from Tonsberg, Norway,
Andersen recorded a pair of runner-up finishes in 2012-13, placing
second out of 78 golfers at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate and
finishing second out of 99 golfers at the 54-hole Bearcat Golf
Classic. He had seven rounds of par or lower this year, including a
low of 69 in both the first and second round of the Myrtle Beach
Intercollegiate. Andersen is ranked No.73 in the Golfstat Division
II Men's Golf Rankings.
Coach of the
Year:
Jason Gault, Belmont Abbey
He was named the 2013 Conference Carolinas
Men’s Coach of the Year as he helped guide the Abbey men to a
national ranking and a win in the stroke-play portion at the
Conference Carolinas championships. Under his tutelage, Adam Hedges
and John Frisby were the top-ranked players in the Southeast
region. Hedges also qualified for the NCAA National
