2019-20 Regular-Season and Championships Information
For 2019-20, the conference will name three All-Conference places along with one MVP, Freshman, Coach of the Year, and Team Champion postseason awards. There will be an "Elite 23" Award Winner.
The 2019-2020 Conference Championship is in partnership with the Bluegrass Mountain Conference.

Location of Conference Championship: Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center (Charlotte, NC)
Meet Parameters (to also include applicable information below): Will follow Bluegrass & Conference Carolinas Meet Proposal and Championship Handbook.
Meet Officials: Host must provide timing equipment, official starter, back-up starter, and at least four certified USA/NCAA swimming officials for the purpose of officiating the swimming and diving events. The host must also secure certified athletic trainers, sports information personnel, etc.
Scoring: NCAA Handbook Rule 7.
Event Schedule: NCAA Handbook Rule 8 (See Three-Day Programs without Platform Diving) and within the host facility's capability. The order of men's and women's events will alternate each year.
Admissions Policy: In any sport in which there is an admissions charge, member students with a valid ID shall be admitted free (except rented facilities off campus) (8/11/04).
Championship Games Committee: The Games Committee assists in the conduct of the Championships when a ruling must be made that is not clearly determined by National Collegiate Athletic Association and Conference Carolinas rules and regulations. The Games Committee consists of the director of athletics liaison to the Swimming and Diving Committee, Conference Carolinas Commissioner (or designee), and host institution director of athletics (or designee). The meet referee, when warranted, may provide input to the Games Committee. A majority vote of the Games Committee is required for implementation of actions. The decision of the Games Committee is final.
Coaches Meetings: 1) A coaches call/meeting will be held at a predetermined date prior to the conference championship. 2) An annual required coaches call/meeting will also be scheduled each year prior to the start of the regular season.
Certification of Measurements: All competition facility measurements will be certified in accordance with NCAA rules. The measurement certification period should take place before competition starts each day.
Competitor Limit: NCAA Handbook Rule 5 (See Championship Meets).
Roster Declaration: The roster declaration must be submitted with entries with the 18 student-athletes an institution plans to use as scoring student-athletes. Please see NCAA rules for determining 18 allowable swimmers. A roster must be submitted regardless of whether there are 18 student-athletes. Two women and two men must be identified that will be alternates in the event a scoring student-athlete will not be able to swim. In the event a non-scoring student-athlete will not be able to swim, no changes will be accepted. Student-athletes swimming in the meet (25 total per gender, per team, including the alternates) who are not part of the 18 scoring student-athletes will be allowed to swim exhibition in preliminary heats only and may not swim in timed final events (1000 and 1650 Freestyle) unless a lane of separation is available to accommodate such entries; additional heats will not be added.
Entry Due Date: All entries must be submitted to the Entry Coordinator; by Thursday, February 6, at 5:00 pm EST. Submit entries along with your roster declaration. All entries must be the best time, or NT, achieved by a student-athlete during the current season.
Psych Sheet: A psych sheet will be e-mailed to the Head Coach (please include preferred e-mail in entries) for each school by 10:00 am EST Sunday, February 8.
Scratch Deadlines: Scratches from preliminaries must be given to the Hytek Operator by 5:30 pm EST for the following day’s events.
Entry Limit: No more than seven (7) events per athlete with a maximum of four (4) individual events for the meet. Only one relay entry per relay event per team will be permitted. A swimmer may be entered into more than four (4) individual events however; the swimmer must scratch to the maximum of (4) four prior to the scratch deadlines.
Inclement Weather: In case of weather that could be dangerous to participants, the conference office (with input from the meet director, host institution, and games committee) will decide when to suspend/resume the competition or any change in format or site.
Conference MVP: The meet MVP will be awarded to the men’s and women’s highest total point scorer based off of individual events. In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided by the higher number of NCAA A/B qualifying times. If still tied, the higher finishing team will be the tiebreaker.
Freshman of the Year: The meet Freshman of the Year will be awarded to the men’s and women’s highest total point scorer based off of individual events. In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided by the higher number of NCAA A/B qualifying times. If still tied, the higher finishing team will be the tiebreaker.
- A student-athlete should qualify only if this is the first collegiate institution attended.
- It is the student-athlete’s first year of competition (academic sophomores/redshirt freshmen are eligible as long as they took a redshirt year at the same member institution).
- Any transfer exception is not applicable (e.g., a student-athlete who transfers from an institution but did not play a sport is still not eligible for award).
- Nominators have the responsibility to make sure all qualifications are met.
All-Conference: The winner of each event will be recognized as an All-Conference First Team performer, with the runner-up recognized on the All-Conference Second Team, and the third place performer being recognized on the All-Conference Third Team.
Coach of the Year: The Coach of the Year will be determined based on team finish during the championship meet. The winning coach for each gender will be the Coach of the Year.
Swimmer of the Week: The Swimmer of the Week will be awarded for each gender and will be for the competition season only (to continue until the conference championships).

Ejection Policy: When a player or team party member is ejected, both the team's coach and (if a conference opponent) the opposing coach are to notify their director of athletics upon completion of the contest. The director of athletics will immediately notify the conference office and subsequently complete and submit to the conference office the Ejection Report Form. The conference office will notify each member president immediately when notified of an ejection.
A coach ejected for an "unsporting act" will be cautioned by the institution’s director of athletics or immediate supervisor in a form provided by the conference. Copies of cautions and suspensions will be provided to the institution’s President, FAR, the Supervisor of Officials and the Commissioner. A second ejection in the same year will, minimally, carry a next-meet suspension. A third ejection in the same year will, minimally, carry a next two-meet suspension. End-of-year suspensions will be carried forward to the next year. Ejected coaches must leave the sight of the pool when ejected. If the ejected coach does not comply in a timely manner, the meet is forfeited.
