CONFERENCE CAROLINAS ANNOUNCES MEN’S & WOMEN’S INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Limestone’s Manning Named Men’s Indoor Field Player of the Week

 

High Point, N.C. – Limestone College’s Jordan Manning has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Men’s Indoor Field Player of the Week during week one of the 2012 – 2013 Indoor Track & Field season. Junior Jordan Manning became the first member of the Limestone College Indoor Track & Field Team to ever reach national qualifier status when he recorded a high jump mark of 2.05 meters in the Orange & Purple Classic hosted by Clemson University in December. Manning, who also broke the school record in the same event, nearly matched that mark with a distance of 2.04 meters at the Liberty Open this past weekend. Manning finished third at the Winston-Salem Open before clinching top honors this past weekend in Lynchburg, VA. 

 

Limestone’s Perignon Named Men’s Indoor Track Player of the Week

 

High Point, N.C. – Limestone College’s Tristan Perignon has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Men’s Indoor Track Player of the Week during week one of the 2012 – 2013 Indoor Track & Field season. Freshman Tristan Perignon has made an immediate impact on the Limestone indoor track & field team, setting the school mark in the 1,000-meter run in his first event with a time of 2:33 at the Orange & Purple Classic. He followed by setting the program record in the 800-meter run at the Winston-Salem State Open with a time of 1:56.33 and narrowly missed beating his own mark this past weekend at the Liberty Open. He finished 2-of-27 at the Winston-Salem meet and collected top honors at Liberty. 

 

Mount Olive’s Brown Named Women’s Indoor Field Player of the Week

 

High Point, N.C. – Mount Olive College’s Jaynell Brown has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Women’s Indoor Field Player of the Week during week one of the 2012 – 2013 Indoor Track & Field season. Jaynell Brown set a school record and finished second out of 29 throwers in the shot put at the Winston-Salem State Open, coming within .11 meters of first place. Her distance of 12.31 meters is the third best in the conference this season. She also competed in both events at the JDL College Kick-off Classic in December and her 10.25 meters in the weight throw is the 10th best in the conference this year.

 

King’s Witt Named Women’s Indoor Track Player of the Week

 

High Point, N.C. – King College’s Hannah Witt has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Women’s Indoor Track Player of the Week during week one of the 2012 – 2013 Indoor Track & Field season. Hannah Witt set a new indoor school record in the 5,000-meter run at the Niswonger Invitational in Johnson City, TN and finished 6th of 24 athletes at the event. Witt also set a new indoor school record in the 3,000-meter run at the Liberty Open in Lynchburg, VA. She only missed winning the event by 3.23 seconds and was the top non-Division I finisher. Her showing in the mile-run broke her personal record by more than 30 seconds. Her top marks are fifth in the mile, first in the 3,000-meters, and first in the 5,000-meters on the season so far in the Conference Carolinas.
