Limestone's Kearse Named Week 16 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Limestone College guard Jasmine Kearse has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Feb. 20-26, the Conference announced today. This marks Kearse's fifth Conference POTW and sixth for Limestone.

A senior from St. Augustine, Fla., Kearse averaged 22 points and five assists per game to lead the Saints to a 2-0 conference record last week. She also etched her name deeper into the Limestone record books by setting the single-season assist record and becoming the first player to record 2,000 points.

In a 75-55 win over Erskine, Kearse led the Saints to their sixth straight conference regular season title by notching 15 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals. She followed her performance up with 29 points, six dimes, four boards and four steals in a 99-72 win over Southern Wesleyan.


Mount Olive's Jones Named Week 15 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive forward Kiara Jones has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Feb. 13-19, the Conference announced today.

Jones, a senior from Wake Forest, N.C., averaged 22 points and pulled down 8.5 rebounds per game to lead the Trojans to a 2-0 conference record last week.

In a 78-71 win over Barton, Jones notched her 12th double-double of the year with a career-high 27 points and 11 rebounds. She followed her performance up with 17 points and six boards in just 22 minutes of action in a 103-73 win over Erskine.


Limestone's Kearse Named Week 14 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Limestone College guard Jasmine Kearse has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Feb. 6-12, the Conference announced today. This marks Kearse's fourth POTW award of the year and Limestone's fifth.

A senior from St. Augustine, Fla., Kearse nearly averaged a double-double for the week, scoring 20.5 points and dishing out nine assists per game. Her efforts would lead Limestone to a pair of Conference Carolinas wins and also etch her name into the record books as the all-time leading scorer in program history.

Against North Greenville, Kearse would score 24 points, dish out six dimes, collect five rebounds and pick three steals to lead the Saints to a 92-61 victory. She would follow her performance up with 17 points and career-high 12 assists to go with four rebounds.


Lees-McRae's Forbes Named Week 13 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Lees-McRae College guard Brea Forbes has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Jan. 30 - Feb. 5, the Conference announced today.

Forbes, a sophomore from Freeport, Bahamas, averaged 19.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.5 steals to lead Lees-McRae to a pair of Conference Carolinas wins last week.

Against Erskine, Forbes notched 20 points and 15 boards to go along with four dimes and two steals to paced the Bobcats to an 85-77 win. She would follow up that performance with 19 points and 10 rebounds while collecting five steals and dishing out three assists.


Limestone's Kearse Named Week 12 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Limestone College guard Jasmine Kearse has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Jan. 23-29, the Conference announced today. This is Kearse's third Conference POTW and Limestone's fourth of the season.

A senior from St. Augustine, Fla., Kearse pushed the Saints into sole possession of first place in the Conference Carolinas standings after going 3-0 last week. She averaged 14 points, nine assists and 3.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game.

In an 80-58 win over Belmont Abbey, Kearse would post 12 points and dish out eight dimes. In a narrow 71-70 win over Barton, Kearse would come two rebounds short of a triple-double, notching 16 points, 10 assists and eight boards with three steals. In an 86-63 blowout of Mount Olive, she would post 14 points and nine assists.


Limestone's Richardson Named Week 11 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Limestone College guard Jasmine Richardson has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Jan. 16-22, the Conference announced today.

Richardson, a junior from Talladega, Ala., powered Limestone to a 3-0 week and moved them into a tie at the top of the Conference Carolinas standings. She shot 71.4 percent from the field, including 58.3 percent from three-point range, and averaged 19 points and four rebounds.

Richardson would start the week with a modest nine points in a 75-42 win over Lees-McRae. In a 92-63 blowout of Barton, Richardson scored 22 points, pulled down four boards and dished out three assists. In the week's finale against Converse, Richardson poured in 26 points and grabbed six rebounds to go along with her three steals in the 95-64 win.


Mount Olive's Simmons Named Week 10 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive guard Daria Simmons has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Jan. 9-15, the Conference announced today.

A senior from Lanham, Md., Simmons led the Trojans to a pair of Conference Carolinas wins last week after averaging 28.5 points, seven rebounds and two steals per game.

In an 83-68 win over Lees-McRae, Simmons scored 40 points on 12-for-19 shooting from the field and 14-for-15 from the charity stripe to go along with eight boards and four steals. The scoring performance ranks third in UMO single-game history. She followed the performance up with 17 points and six rebounds in a 79-62 win over Emmanuel.

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Limestone College guard Jasmine Kearse has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Jan. 2-8, the Conference announced today.

Kearse, a senior from St. Augustine, Fla., guided the Saints to a pair of wins over first-place teams last week. She averaged 18 points, 7.5 assists and four rebounds in the two wins.

In a 79-53 rout of King, Kearse would notch 15 points, four assists, three boards and two steals. She would follow that performance with a double-double of 21 points and 11 assists in a 74-65 victory over Mount Olive.


Barton's Dean Named Week 8 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Barton College forward Karimah Dean has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Dec. 26 - Jan. 1, the Conference announced today.

A junior from Greensboro, N.C., Dean posted a monster double-double in Barton's 76-52 win over St. Augustine's last week. She would have a career day, recording 20 points on 10-for-17 shooting and snatching 17 rebounds to go along with four steals.

Limestone's Kearse Named Week 6 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Limestone College guard Jasmine Kearse has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Dec. 12-18, the Conference announced today.

Kearse, a senior from St. Augustine, Fla., led the No. 21 Saints to a 1-1 week after averaging 21 points, four assists and 1.5 steals per game.

In an 81-72 loss to Lander, Kearse would pour in 21 points, including five three-pointers, with four rebounds and four assists. Kearse would then lead the Saints to a 53-49 win over Claflin with 21 points, four assists and two steals.


Erskine's Espinosa Named Week 5 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Erskine College guard Ashley Espinosa has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Dec. 5-11, the Conference announced today.

A junior hailing from Reading, Pa., Espinosa had a monster game for the Fleet following final exams last week. She would score 22 points, pull down nine boards, nab six steals and dish out four assists to lead Erskine to an 86-67 win over Belmont Abbey.


King's Mitchell Named Week 4 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – King University guard Whitney Mitchell has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Nov. 28 - Dec. 4, the Conference announced today.

Mitchell, a senior from Oak Ridge, Tenn., led King to a pair of Conference Carolinas wins after averaging 23.5 points, five assists and two steals a game.

In an 88-74 win over Erskine, Mitchell would pour in 26 points on 8-for-12 shooting to go with six assists. Mitchell would follow that performance up with 21 points, four dimes and three steals in a narrow 69-67 triumph over Barton.


Pfeiffer's Pritchard Named Week 3 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Pfeiffer University forward Meg Pritchard has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Nov. 21-27, the Conference announced today.

A senior from Adelaide, Australia, Pritchard led the Falcons to a win over Southern Wesleyan in their lone game last week. In a 68-52 victory, Pritchard would shoot 64.3 percent from the floor (9-for-14), including 57.1 percent from three-point range (4-for-7), to net 23 points. She would also stuff the stat sheet with eight rebounds, four steals, three assists and one block.


North Greenville's Donehew Named Week 2 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – North Greenville University forward Karen Donehew has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Nov. 14-20, the Conference announced today.

Donehew, a freshman from Knoxville, Tenn., averaged 19.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and two steals to lead the Crusaders to a pair of wins last week.

In a 67-55 win over Mars Hill, Donehew would score a then career high 19 points while pulling down eight boards and collecting two steals and three blocks. She would follow that performance up with a career high 20 points with five rebounds two steals and two blocks in an 85-53 blowout of Bob Jones.


King's Johnson Named Week 1 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – King University guard Sheena Johnson has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Nov. 11-13, the Conference announced today.

A sophomore from Bristol, Tenn., Johnson paced the Tornado to a pair of wins over Tusculum and Mars Hill in the Conference Carolinas/South Atlantic Conference Challenge. In the two games Johnson averaged 19.5 points, three rebounds and shot 60 percent from the field, including 50 percent from three-point range.

In an 86-63 blowout of Tusculum, Johnson would drop 20 points on 8-for-11 shooting, with three treys on four attempts. A day later against Mars Hill, Johnson would tally 19 points and four rebounds in a 69-43 Tornado win.
