Mount Olive's Hanle Named Week 6 Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week 

           

HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Leah Hanle has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Apr. 17-23.

A freshman from Lichtenstein, Germany, Hanle picked up a win for the Trojans at the Duke Invite hosted by Duke University. She would win the 3000 meter steeplechase and break the UMO record with a time of 10:26.04, which also set an NCAA Division II Provisional time.


Mount Olive's Moncrief Named Week 6 Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Taylor Moncrief has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Outdoor Field Athletes of the Week for meets held Apr. 17-23.

Moncrief, a freshman from Jacksonville, N.C., had a good showing for the Trojans at the Duke Invite hosted by Duke University. She finished 20th and broke the UMO school record in the high jump with a distance of 1.58 meters, while finishing 27th in the long jump with a distance of 5.33 meters.


Mount Olive's Kafi Named Week 5 Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week 

          

HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Malak Kafi has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Apr. 10-16.

Kafi, a freshman from High Point, N.C., posted two top-five finishes for the Trojans at the Phoenix Invitational hosted by Elon University. She would take second and break the UMO record in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.95 seconds. Kafi would wrap up her day with a fourth-place finish in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.03.


Barton's Cunningham Named Week 5 Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Barton College's Janae Cunningham has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Outdoor Field Athletes of the Week for meets held Apr. 10-16.

A freshman from Hubert, N.C., Cunningham broke four school records and posted four top-10 finishes for the Bulldogs at the Phoenix Invitational hosted by Elon University. Her best finish came in the javelin throw, as she finished fourth with a distance of 30.48 meters. Cunningham would finish fifth in the shot put with a distance of 11.67 meters, sixth in the discus throw with a distance of 39.77 and eighth in the hammer throw with a distance of 38.05 meters.


Barton's Morris Named Week 4 Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week 

         

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Barton College's Jamina Morris has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Apr. 3-9.

A freshman from Edison, N.J., Morris posted a pair of NCAA Division II Provisional marks over the weekend for the Bulldogs at the Johnson C. Smith University Invitational hosted by Johnson C. Smith University. She would win the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.42, while notching seventh in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.25.


Barton's Poole Named Week 4 Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Barton College's Kelsey Poole has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Outdoor Field Athletes of the Week for meets held Apr. 3-9.

Poole, a freshman from Oakboro, N.C., notched two top-15 finishes for Barton at the Johnson C. Smith University Invitational hosted by Johnson C. Smith University. In the discus throw, she would place seventh with a distance of 34.94 meters. Poole would break the outdoor school record with a distance of 11.38 meters in the shot put, which earned her 12th in the event.

HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Leah Hanle has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Mar. 27 - Apr. 2.

Hanle, a freshman from Lichtenstein, Germany, picked up an NCAA Division II Provisional time for the Trojans at the Colonial Relays hosted by the College of William & Mary. She would break the UMO record in the 1500 meter with a time of 4:29.64, which earned her an eighth-place finish overall.


Barton's Morris Named Week 3 Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Barton College's Jamina Morris have been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Outdoor Field Athletes of the Week for meets held Mar. 27 - Apr. 2.

A freshman from Edison, N.J., Morris posted a top-five finish and NCAA Division II Provisional mark over the weekend for the Bulldogs at the HPU VertKlasse Meeting hosted by High Point University. She would post a provisional mark by finishing fifth in the triple jump with a jump of 11.85 meters. In addition to her provisional mark, she finished 15th in the long jump with a jump of 5.32 meters and 19th in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.95 seconds.

HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Leah Hanle has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Mar. 20-26.

A freshman from Lichtenstein, Germany, Hanle managed a top-ten finish for the Trojans at the Raleigh Relays hosted by North Carolina State University. She would finish in ninth-place among numerous Division I runners in the 5000 meter with a time of 16:24.45, which was a UMO school record for the event. Hanle's time was also an NCAA Automatic qualifier, which booked her a trip to the 2017 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 5000 meter.


Pfeiffer's Webb Named Week 2 Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Pfeiffer University's Alison Webb have been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Outdoor Field Athletes of the Week for meets held Mar. 20-26.

Webb, a junior from Concord, N.C., narrowly missed a top-five finish for the Falcons at the Winthrop Adidas Invitational hosted by Winthrop University. She would place sixth in the javelin throw with a score of 38.11 meters, breaking her own school record set last week.


Southern Wesleyan's Barton Named Week 1 Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week 

      

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Southern Wesleyan University's Amy Barton has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Mar. 13-19.

Barton, a junior from Clemson, S.C., posted a pair of top-three finishes for the Warriors at the USF Bulls Invitational hosted by the University of South Florida. She would notch a third-place finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 55.60, while also finishing third in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:52.84.


Southern Wesleyan's Bush Named Week 1 Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Southern Wesleyan University's Olivia Bush have been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Outdoor Field Athletes of the Week for meets held Mar. 13-19.

A senior from Indian Rocks Beach, Fla., Bush picked up a top-three finish at the USF Bulls Invitational hosted by the University of South Florida. She posted an NCAA Provisional mark with a javelin throw of 41.20 meters, which earned her a third-place finish in the event.

Mount Olive's Hanle Named Week 6 Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week 

      

HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Leah Hanle  has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Feb. 6-12.

A freshman from Lichtenstein, Germany, Hanle broke one of Mount Olive's longest held records in the 5000 meter run at the Finn Pincus Invitational hosted by Roanoke College. Hanle would take first in the event and run it in a NCAA Provisional qualifying time of 17:31.66, which destroyed the old school record of 18:20.47.

Southern Wesleyan's Lewis Named Week 5 Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week 

     

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Southern Wesleyan University's Jami Lewis has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Jan. 30 - Feb. 5.

Lewis, a freshman from Stafford,Va., notched a pair of first-place finishes for the Warriors at the Buccaneer Invitational hosted by East Tennessee State University. She would claim the title in the 400 meter dash with a time of 57.47, while also leading the SWU 4x400 meter relay team to a first-place finish with a time of 3:52.40.


Lees-McRae's Boswell Named Week 5 Women's Indoor Field Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Lees-McRae College's Mekayla Boswell have been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Indoor Field Athletes of the Week for meets held Jan. 30 - Feb. 5.

A senior from Mocksville, N.C., Boswell placed in the top-10 in the high jump for the Bobcats at the Buccaneer Invitational hosted by East Tennessee State University. She would record a jump of 1.58 meters to take eighth in the event.

HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Leah Hanle has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Jan. 23-29.

A freshman from Lichtenstein, Germany, Hanle found the top of the podium at the UNCG Dual Meet Madness event hosted by UNC Greensboro. She would win the mile run with a time of 4:59.85, which is also an NCAA provisional qualifying time.


Mount Olive's Moncrief Named Week 4 Women's Indoor Field Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Taylor Moncrief have been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Indoor Field Athletes of the Week for meets held Jan. 23-29.

Moncrief, a freshman from Jacksonville, N.C., placed in the top-five in the triple jump for the Trojans at the UNCG Dual Meet Madness event hosted by UNC Greensboro. She would record a jump of 11.15 meters to take fifth in the event.


Lees-McRae's Bingham Named Week 3 Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week 

   

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Lees-McRae College's Erin Bingham has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Jan. 16-22.

Bingham, a senior from West Jefferson, N.C., had a great showing for the Bobcats at the Mountaineer Indoor Track Meet hosted by Appalachian State University. She would break the program's indoor record for the 55 meter huddles with a time of 8.49, which was good enough for first among non-Division I participants and sixth overall.


Lees-McRae's Johnson Named Week 3 Women's Indoor Field Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Lees-McRae College's Jennifer Johnson have been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Indoor Field Athletes of the Week for meets held Jan. 16-22.

A freshman from Yadkinville, N.C., Johnson put on a show at the Mountaineer Indoor Track Meet hosted by Appalachian State University. She would place first among non-Division I participants in the triple jump (fifth overall) with a jump of 11.01 meters, while notching a second-place non-Division I (10th overall) finish in the long jump with a jump of 4.98 meters.


Belmont Abbey's Thierfelder Named Week 2 Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week 

  

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Belmont Abbey College’s Liz Thierfelder has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Jan. 9-15.

A senior from Gastonia, N.C., Thierfelder had an impressive performance at the Art & Maillet Open hosted by UNC Chapel Hill. She would place second in the 400 meter run with a time of 58.8 seconds, finishing behind an unattached runner.


Barton's Morris Named Week 2 Women's Indoor Field Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Barton College's Jamina Morris have been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Indoor Field Athletes of the Week for meets held Jan. 9-15.

Morris, a freshman from Edison, N.J., had quite the day at the Art & Maillet Open hosted by UNC Chapel Hill, notching four top-15 finishes. Her top performance came in the triple jump, as she won the event with a jump of 11.42 meters. Morris would continue her dominance in the long jump with a distance of 5.25 meters, which was good enough for eighth-place. Her last two top-15 finishes would come on the track, as she led Barton's 4x400 relay team to a third-place finish and then placed 14th individually in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.94 seconds.


Barton's Kiptoo Named Week 1 Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week 

 

HIGH POINT, N.C.Barton College’s Sharon Kiptoo has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Nov. 28 - Dec. 4.

Kiptoo, a junior from Eldoret, Kenya, broke the Barton indoor record in the 3000 meter run during the season-opening JDL Collegiate Kick-Off Classic. She would place fifth overall and first among Division II participants with a time of 10:41.79, which surpassed the previous Barton record of 11:11.03.


Barton's Whitley Named Week 1 Women's Indoor Field Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Barton College's Desiree Whitley have been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Indoor Field Athletes of the Week for meets held Nov. 28 - Dec. 4.

A freshman from Hampton, Va., Whitley made a splash in her college debut at the JDL Collegiate Kick-Off Class, as she narrowly missed breaking the Barton school record in the shot put. Whitley would register a toss of 10.69 meters to place 19th overall, finishing two-tenths of a meter short of a school record.


INDOOR SEASON




High Point, N.C. – Converse College’s Ashly Sutherland has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Women’s Indoor Track Player of the Week during week three of the 2014 - 2015 Indoor Track & Field season. Sutherland posted a Conference Carolinas best 800m time at the Winston-Salem State Open running the event in 2:17.07 missing the NCAA DII Provisional time by just over a second. The Cowpens, S.C. native leads the Conference Carolinas in the mile event running a school record 5:09.80 finishing fifth overall at the Bob Pollock Invitational against a majority DI field. Sutherland is ranked 15th among DII athletes in the 800m and 37th overall in the mile.
