Limestone's Fareed Named Week 6 Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.Limestone College's Naim Fareed has been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held April 16 - 22.

A senior for the Saints, Fareed raced his way to not one, not two, but three provisional qualifying marks this past weekend at the USC Open.  He opened his day with a new career-best mark in the 110 meter hurdles, and his time of 14.18 seconds is currently 14th on the NCAA Division II descending-order list.  Fareed then came back to run the second-fastest time of his career in the 400 meter hurdles, 52.37 seconds, a provisional qualifying mark that would sit 11th on the descending-order list if he didn't already own the eighth-fastest time from his performance at the Florida Relays several weeks ago.  Fareed closed out his day as part of the meet-winning 4x400 meter relay team whose time of 3:11.84 currently sits 9th on the Division II list, but will move up to 6th once duplicate teams are removed.  All three of those marks currently sit atop both the conference and the region.  


North Greenville's Sherman Named Week 5 Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.North Greenville University's JJ Sherman has been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held April 9 - 15.

Sherman, a junior from Pawleys Island, S.C., produced two NCAA provisional qualifying marks at the Beynon Sports Catamount Classic.  Sherman won the 100 meter dash in a new personal best time of 10.47 seconds, which is tied for the 11th-fastest time in Division II so far this season.  He also teamed up with Harold Hilton, Jordan Walters, and Tevin Richardson to post a qualifying mark of 40.77 seconds in the 4x100 relay.  That time is 6th on the descending order list, and leads both the conference and the Southeast region. 


Mount Olive's Smith Named Week 4 Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.University of Mount Olive's Tai Smith has been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held April 2 - April 8.

Smith, a sophomore from Glendale, Ariz., recorded a provisional qualifying mark in the 10,000 meter run his first time out in that event this season.  His time of 29:59.89, less than a minute away from the automatic qualifying mark, was good for second place at the Colonial Relays, and is currently the eighth-fastest time in Division II.  Smith also currently leads both the conference and region in that event.  


North Greenville's Richardson Named Week 3 Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.North Greenville University's Tevin Richardson has been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held March 26 - April 1.

Richardson, a sophomore from Calhoun Falls, S.C., notched another provisional qualifying mark in his second outdoor meet of the season, this time in the 400 meter dash.  Richardson's run of 47.48 seconds at the Florida Relays was the second-fastest time put up by a Division II athlete.  That time is also the fastest in both the conference and the region, and sits sixth on the Division II descending order list.    


North Greenville's Richardson Named Week 2 Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.North Greenville University's Tevin Richardson has been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held March 19 - 25.

In his first outdoor showing of the season, Richardson picked up right where he left off after indoor.  The sophomore from Calhoun Falls, S.C., recorded a new personal best time in the 200 meter dash at the Adidas Winthrop Invitational.  Richardson's time of 21.23 seconds was the fastest coming out of the preliminary round and ended the day as the overall fastest time, even though he did not compete in the finals.  That mark is currently the fastest in the conference by nearly half a second and is the 6th fastest time in Division II so far this season.  


Southern Wesleyan's Ray Named Week 1 Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.Southern Wesleyan University's Dymitric Ray has been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held March 12 - 18.

A freshman from Woodruff, S.C., Ray posted impressive opening marks both individually and as part of two relays this past weekend at the 49er Classic.  In the open 400, Ray ran a personal record time of 48.6 seconds to finish in 11th place as the top Division II competitor in the field.  That mark places him atop both the conference and region standings.  Ray also competed as part of the 4x400 meter relay that set a new school record in 3:17.08.
