Barton's Hart Named Week 12 Baseball Pitcher of the Week

             

Barton College's Alex Hart was tabbed the Conference Carolinas Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played Apr. 15-21, the Conference announced today.

A sophomore from Raleigh, N.C., Hart picked up the win for Barton in a 6-1 victory over Southern Wesleyan. In five innings of relief, Hart let up one hit while striking out nine batters.


Southern Wesleyan's Antwine Named Week 10 Baseball Pitcher of the Week

             

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Southern Wesleyan University's Josh Antwine was named the Conference Carolinas Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played Apr. 1-7.

A senior from Chattanooga, Tenn., Antwine posted two wins out of the bullpen for the Warriors. Antwine threw two scoreless innings against Toccoa Falls, striking out two and letting up one hit in a 2-1 victory. Antwine closed the week with three innings pitched against Mount Olive, issuing two walks, striking out eight while letting up no hits in the 6-5 win.


Mount Olive's Bishop Named Week 9 Baseball Pitcher of the Week

             

HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Caleb Bishop was named the Conference Carolinas Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played Mar. 25-31.

Bishop, a sophomore from Wilmington, N.C., posted a complete game shutout in an 8-0 victory over Emmanuel last week. Bishop pitched nine innings and scattered four hits and had six strikeouts in the victory.


Barton's Ryan Named Week 8 Baseball Pitcher of the Week

             

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Barton College's Jakob Ryan was named the Conference Carolinas Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played Mar. 18-24.

A junior from Carrollton, Va., Ryan made two appearances and pitched 11 innings to post a 1-0 record with a .82 ERA last week. Ryan pitched two innings and give up three hits with three strikeouts in a narrow 6-5 loss to Queens (NC). Ryan then pitched nine innings with 17 strikeouts and seven scattered hits, one walk and one earned run in a 7-1 complete game win over King.


North Greenville's Burgess Named Week 7 Baseball Pitcher of the Week

             

HIGH POINT, N.C. – North Greenville University's Tucker Burgess was named the Conference Carolinas Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played Mar. 11-17.

Burgess, a senior from Liberty, S.C., made two appearances and pitched eight innings to post a 1-0 record last week. Burgess pitched a spotless two innings in a 10-2 win over Lander. Burgess then pitched six innings and let up two hits and one walk while notching nine strikeouts in a 6-0 win over Limestone.


Erskine's Calvert Named Week 6 Baseball Pitcher of the Week

             

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Erskine College's Alex Calvert was named the Conference Carolinas Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played Mar. 4-10.

A senior from La Plata, Md., Calvert posted a complete game shutout in a 4-0 win over Southern Wesleyan to notch Pitcher of the Week. In the victory, Calvert scattered four hits and issued four walks with seven strikeouts in seven innings of work.


North Greenville's Giacone Named Week 5 Baseball Pitcher of the Week

             

HIGH POINT, N.C. – North Greenville University's Michael Giacone was named the Conference Carolinas Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played Feb. 25 - Mar. 3.

Giacone, a junior from Huntington Beach, Calif., collected his third straight POTW after throwing five innings in a 24-0 win over Erskine. In the victory, Giacone gave up two hits and tallied 12 strikeouts while issuing no walks.


North Greenville's Giacone Named Week 4 Baseball Pitcher of the Week

             

HIGH POINT, N.C. – North Greenville University's Michael Giacone was named the Conference Carolinas Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played Feb. 18-24.

A junior from Huntington Beach, Calif., Giacone threw five innings of work and picked up a 9-0 win over Barton. In the victory, Giacone gave up no hits and tallied 10 strikeouts while issuing four walks.


North Greenville's Giacone Named Week 3 Baseball Pitcher of the Week

             

HIGH POINT, N.C. – North Greenville University's Michael Giacone was named the Conference Carolinas Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played Feb. 11-17.

Giacone, a junior from Huntington Beach, Calif., threw six innings of work and picked up a 10-1 win over No. 18 Nova Southeastern. In the victory, Giacone tallied six strikeouts while giving up two hits, one earned run and issuing one walk.


Barton's Shimmel Named Week 2 Baseball Pitcher of the Week

             

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Barton College's Colby Shimmel was named the Conference Carolinas Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played Feb. 4-10.

A junior from Windsor, Pa., Shimmel tossed a three-hit complete game shutout to lead the Bulldogs to a win over Nyack last week. In a 3-0 victory, Shimmel issued no walks and struck out seven batters in seven innings of work.


Limestone's MacPherson Named Week 1 Baseball Pitcher of the Week

             

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Limestone College's Payton MacPherson was named the Conference Carolinas Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played Feb. 1-3.

MacPherson, a freshman from Cumming, Ga., threw a gem in his first collegiate start, picking up the 3-0 complete game shutout for the Saints. He struck out six batters in seven innings of work, while only allowing two hits and issuing two walks.
