Belmont Abbey’s Ferguson Named Week 17 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.Belmont Abbey College guard Romeao Ferguson has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Feb. 25 - Mar. 3, the Conference announced today. This marks the third POTW for Feguson and eighth overall for Belmont Abbey.

Ferguson, a sophomore from Burlington, N.C., led Belmont Abbey to a win over Conference Carolinas-leading Emmanuel to close out the regular season. Ferguson posted a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds while dishing out four assists and swiping three steals in the 98-93 victory.


Erskine’s Venable Named Week 16 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.Erskine College forward Austin Venable has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Feb. 18-24, the Conference announced today.

A senior from Homer, Ga., Venable led Erskine to a 1-1 record in Conference Carolinas play last week with a win over Limestone. Venable averaged 27.5 points, seven rebounds, two blocks and one steal per game in the two contests.

In a narrow 86-82 loss to Lees-McRae, Venable posted a double-double with 37 points and 11 rebounds while tallying three blocks. Venable closed out the week with 18 points, three boards, two steals and one block in a 98-92 win over Limestone.


Barton’s Reddish Named Week 15 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.Barton College forward Isaiah Reddish has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Feb. 11-17, the Conference announced today.

Reddish, a sophomore from Durham, N.C., led Barton to a 2-0 record in Conference Carolinas play last week with wins over Mount Olive and Lees-McRae. Reddish averaged 18.5 points, eight rebounds, 2.5 steals and two assists per game in the two contests.

In a 105-100 triple-overtime win over Barton, Reddish posted a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds while dishing out three dimes and swiping one steal. Reddish would close out the week with 18 points, six boards, four steals, one assist and one block in a 87-78 rout of Lees-McRae.


Belmont Abbey’s Abrom Named Week 14 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.Belmont Abbey College guard DeQuan Abrom has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Feb. 4-10, the Conference announced today. This marks the fifth POTW for Abrom and seventh overall for Belmont Abbey.

A junior from Washington, D.C., Abrom led Belmont Abbey to a 1-1 record in Conference Carolinas play last week. Abrom would average 36 points on 63.9 percent shooting from the field, including 50.0 percent from three-point range and 88.5 percent from the free throw line. He would add 5.5 rebounds, three assists and 1.5 steals per game to his box score.

In a loss to Barton, Abrom would score 45 points, going 15-for-23 (2-5 3pt) from the field and 13-for-13 from the charity stripe to go with six rebounds, three assists and one block in the contest. Abrom would follow that performance up with 27 points on 8-for-13 shooting and 10-for-13 from the free throw line in a 90-81 win over Emmanuel. He would add five rebounds, three assists and three steals to his game totals.

HIGH POINT, N.C.Belmont Abbey College guard DeQuan Abrom has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Jan. 28 - Feb. 3, the Conference announced today. This marks the fourth POTW for Abrom and sixth overall for Belmont Abbey.

Abrom, a junior from Washington, D.C., paced Belmont Abbey offensively to a pair of Conference Carolinas wins last week against Mount Olive and league-leading Emmanuel. Abrom would average 38.5 points on 56.4 percent shooting from the field, including 58.8 percent from three-point range and 92 percent from the charity stripe. He would add 4.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game to his stat line.

In a 95-92 victory over Mount Olive, Abrom would score 42 points, going 15-for-26 (9-13 3pt) from the field and 3-for-3 from the line, to go with seven dimes, four steals and two rebounds. Abrom would follow that performance up with 35 points on 7-for-13 shooting and 20-for-22 from the free throw line in an 88-85 win over Emmanuel. He would add seven rebounds, two assists and one steal to his game totals.


Mount Olive’s Matin Named Week 12 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.University of Mount Olive guard Jamaal Matin has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Jan. 21-27, the Conference announced today. This marks both the second POTW for Matin and Mount Olive.

A senior from Virginia Beach, Va., Matin led Mount Olive to a pair of Conference Carolinas wins last week against Limestone and Southern Wesleyan. He shot 64.3 percent from the field, including 50 percent from three-point range, to average 22 points, eight rebounds, 1.5 blocks and one steal per game for the week.

Matin started his week by missing out on a double-double by one rebound, scoring 20 points with nine rebounds and one block in a 79-59 win over Limestone. He would close the week by stuffing the stat sheet with 24 points, seven rebounds, two steals, two blocks and one assist in an 86-79 victory over Southern Wesleyan.


Emmanuel’s Colvin Named Week 11 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.Emmanuel College guard Kendrick Colvin has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Jan. 14-20, the Conference announced today. This marks both the second POTW for Colvin and Emmanuel.

Colvin, a senior from Moncure, N.C., led Emmanuel to the top of the Conference Carolinas standings after picking up a pair of wins last week against Barton and Southern Wesleyan. He shot 64 percent from the field to average a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds, while adding 2.5 assists, 2.5 blocks and one steal to his per game totals.

In a 70-54 win over Southern Wesleyan, Colvin would narrowly miss a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds to go with his three assists, three blocks and two steals. He would close out the week with 21 points, 13 rebounds, two dimes and two blocks in a 86-76 victory over Barton.


Belmont Abbey’s Abrom Named Week 10 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.Belmont Abbey College guard DeQuan Abrom has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Jan. 7-13, the Conference announced today. This marks the third POTW for Abrom and the fifth overall for Belmont Abbey.

A junior from Washington, D.C., Abrom kept Belmont Abbey atop the Conference Carolinas standings after leading the squad to a pair of wins last week against North Greenville and Southern Wesleyan. He averaged 26 points on 64.7 percent shooting to go with 6.5 rebounds, two steals and one assist and has the team on its best start ever in conference play at 8-0.

In a 79-70 win over North Greenville, Abrom poured in 23 points on 55.6 percent shooting to go with four rebounds, two steals and one assist. He continued his hot shooting by scoring 29 points on 75 percent shooting (12-for-16) from the field, including 60 percent (3-for-5) from three-point range, against Southern Wesleyan. Abrom would add nine boards, two steals and one assist to his game totals in the 67-50 win over SWU.


Belmont Abbey’s Abrom Named Week 9 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.Belmont Abbey College guard DeQuan Abrom has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Dec. 31 - Jan. 6, the Conference announced today. This marks the second POTW for Abrom and the fourth overall for Belmont Abbey.

Abrom, a junior from Washington, D.C., led the Crusaders to a pair of Conference Carolinas wins last week against Erskine and Lees-McRae. He averaged 29.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and four assists and has the team on its best start ever in conference play at 6-0.

In a 101-94 win over Erskine, Abrom poured in 26 points on 53.3 percent shooting to go with seven boards and five dimes. He followed that performance up with his third 30-point outing of the season, as he posted 33 points with six boards, three assists, one steal and one block in an 83-75 victory.


King’s Salomon Named Week 8 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.King University forward Mike Salomon has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Dec. 28-30, the Conference announced today.

A junior from Statesboro, Ga., Salomon poured in a career-high in points for King in its lone game against Southern Indiana last week. He scored 24 points on 8-for-11 shooting, including 6-for-11 from three-point range and 2-for-3 at the charity stripe. Salomon would add five rebounds and one assist to his stat line in King's 86-80 victory.


Mount Olive’s Matin Named Week 7 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.University of Mount Olive guard Jamaal Matin has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Dec. 17-19, the Conference announced today.

Matin, a senior from Virginia Beach, Va., played all 40 minutes and notched 21 points, six rebounds and one steal in UMO's loss to Virginia State.


Belmont Abbey’s Ferguson Named Week 6 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.Belmont Abbey College guard Romeao Ferguson has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Dec. 10-16, the Conference announced today. This marks the second POTW for Ferguson and the third overall for Belmont Abbey.

A sophomore from Burlington, N.C., Ferguson led Belmont Abbey to a league victory over Limestone in the team's lone game last week. He would score 19 points on 87.5% shooting from the field (7-for-8) with five rebounds, five assists and one block to pace the team in the 92-74 win.

Abrom, a junior from Washington, D.C., averaged 30.5 points on 57.1% shooting from the field with three assists, two steals and two rebounds to pace the Crusaders to a pair of Conference Carolinas wins last week.

Abrom opened his week with a big performance against No. 20 Barton, as he poured in 32 points, pulled down four boards, swiped four steals and dished out four helpers to lead the Abbey to a 93-79 upset victory. Abrom would follow that outing by just falling shy of 30 points, as he netted 29 points and two assists in a 73-72 win over North Greenville to close out the week.


Emmanuel’s Colvin Named Week 4 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.Emmanuel College guard Kendrick Colvin has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Nov. 26 - Dec. 2, the Conference announced today.

A senior from Moncure, N.C., Colvin averaged 29 points on 77.4% shooting from the field with 13 rebounds, 3.5 steals, two assists and 1.5 blocks to lead the Lions to a pair of victories last week. Colvin also eclipsed the 1000-point mark for his career during the week.

Colvin notched his first double-double of the week with 27 points and 12 rebounds in just 22 minutes of a 95-39 win over Bob Jones. He would also add five steals, three blocks and two assists in the victory. In the conference opener against Lees-McRae, Colvin went for 31 points and 14 rebounds with two dimes and two steals to lead Emmanuel to a 91-88 win.


Belmont Abbey’s Ferguson Named Week 3 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.Belmont Abbey College guard Romeao Ferguson has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Nov. 19-25, the Conference announced today.

Ferguson, a sophomore from Burlington, N.C., averaged 18.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, two steals and 1.5 blocks en route to leading the Crusaders to a 2-0 record last week.

Ferguson stuffed his stat sheet in an 85-78 win over Johnson C. Smith, notching 21 points to go along with seven rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block. Ferguson would follow that performance with another good outing against No. 10 Queens, with the Crusaders coming away with a 76-55 rout of the Royals. He would score 16 points with six rebounds, two assists, tow steals and two blocks in the victory.


Limestone’s Moreau Named Week 2 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.Limestone College guard Evans Moreau has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Nov. 12-18, the Conference announced today.

A senior from Ocala, Fla., Moreau paced Limestone to a 2-0 record last week by averaging 16 points, five rebounds and two assists per game.

Moreau would post 13 points, three boards and three dimes in a 79-72 victory over Anderson (SC). Moreau would only need 19 minutes of game action against Coker to put up 19 points, seven rebounds and one assist in a 100-75 win.


Limestone’s Hairston Named Week 1 Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.Limestone College guard Kenny Hairston has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Nov. 9-11, the Conference announced today.

Hairston, a senior from Charlotte, N.C., led the Saints to a 2-0 record over the weekend in the Conference Carolinas/South Atlantic Conference Challenge. In the two victories, Hairston averaged 25.5 points, five rebounds, 1.5 assists and one steal per game.

Against Mars Hill, Hairston poured in 24 points on 9-for-16 shooting, including 6-for-12 from three-point range. He would add four rebounds and one steal in the 92-88 win over the Lions. As an encore, Hairston would continue his hot scoring against Wingate, as he dropped 27 points and grabbed six rebounds to go with three assists, one block and one steal in a 95-93 victory.
