Mount Olive's Middlebrooks Named Week 7 Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

      

HIGH POINT, N.C.University of Mount Olive's Johnny Middlebrooks has been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Feb. 4-10, the Conference announced today.

The Mount Olive junior from Chesapeake, Va., Johnny Middlebrooks shined in his home state this weekend at the VMI Winter Relays. Middlebrooks set an NCAA Provisional Qualifier in the 200-meter dash, winning the event with a time of 21.67 to set a new UMO school record. Middlebrooks also made his mark in the 60-meter dash, moving into third place all-time in UMO history with a time of 6.97.


North Greenville's Junkins Named Week 6 Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

      

HIGH POINT, N.C.North Greenville University's Jackson Junkins has been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Jan. 31 - Feb. 1 , the Conference announced today.

North Greenville freshman Jackson Junkins turned in a time of 48.54 seconds in the 400 meter dash to place 18th amongst a competitive field at the Carolina Challenge this weekend in Columbia, South Carolina. Junkins currently holds the fifth fastest time in the conference for the 2018-19 indoor season.


Mount Olive's Cornu Named Week 5 Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

      

HIGH POINT, N.C.University of Mount Olive's Altan Cornu has been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Jan. 24 - Jan. 28 , the Conference announced today.

Cornu made some major strides in his junior season at the Liberty Kick-Off meet this weekend in Lynchburg, Va. Cornu moved into third in the UMO record books in the 800-meter dash with a time of 1:55.73. His seventh place finish earned him a top spot in the conference in his event. 


Limestone's Morrison Named Week 4 Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

     

HIGH POINT, N.C.Limestone College's Ethan Morrison has been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Jan. 17 - Jan. 21 , the Conference announced today.

Morrison, a junior from Stockbridge, Ga. lead the Saints in the sprints this weekend at the Gamecock Invitational hosted by the University of South Carolina. Morrison picked up an NCAA automatic qualifying time in the 400m dash with 47.26 seconds, placing 2nd in a heated competition. In doing so, he posted the second-fastest time in the NCAA Division II this year and also holds the fastest time within the conference by more than a second, followed by a Limestone teammate. Last but not least of Morrison's accomplishments from this weekend, he is now the school record holder in the 400m dash.


Southern Wesleyan's Shelton Named Week 3 Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

     

HIGH POINT, N.C.Southern Wesleyan University's Peyton Shelton has been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Jan. 10 - Jan. 14 , the Conference announced today.

Shelton, a freshman from Columbus, Ind. opened up his indoor season this weekend in Johnson City, Tenn. at the ETSU Invitational with strong performances in both the mile and 3000 meter run. Shelton led the Warriors in the mile with a time of 4.44.82 to capture a 13th place finish and posted a time of 9:16.77 in the 3000 meters for a 20th place finish. Shelton ranks sixth in the conference in the mile and fifth in the 3000 meters.


Mount Olive's Smith Named Week 2 Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

     

HIGH POINT, N.C.University of Mount Olive's Tai Smith has been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Dec. 6 - Dec. 10 , the Conference announced today.

Smith, a junior from Glendale, Ariz., had a record-breaking weekend at the GVSU Holiday Open in Allendale, Michigan. Competing in the 5000 meter run, Smith crossed the finish line with a time of 14:24.16, setting a new school record and picking up an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the event. Smith made a comeback to surpass all of the Queens runners who beat him last week and finished right behind the runner who placed 9th at the NCAA DII Cross Country Championships. Smith's eleventh-place finish ranks him first in the conference in the 5000m run. 


Emmanuel's Jackson Named Week 1 Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

     

HIGH POINT, N.C.Emmanuel College's Malik Jackson has been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Nov. 29 - Dec. 3 , the Conference announced today.

Jackson, a sophomore from Sandersville, Ga., posted a time of 8.58 seconds in the 60m hurdles at his first outing of the season at the JDL College Kickoff Classic on Saturday in Winston-Salem, N.C. His eighth-place finish ranks him second in the conference in the 60m hurdles.
