Barton's Jasek-Rysdahl Named Week 6 Women's Swimmer of the Week

               

HIGH POINT, N.C.Barton College's Annika Jasek-Rysdahl has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Swimmer of the Week for meets swam during the week of Nov. 5-11, the Conference announced today.

Jasek-Rysdahl, a junior from Turlock, Calif., posted seven top-five finishes, including four first-place wins, and led Barton to a 2-1 record in meets last week.

In a tri-meet against Hollins and Randolph-Macon, Jasek-Rysdahl would lead her squad to a third-place finish in the 200-meter freestyle relay with a time 2:02.25. She would finish fourth in both the 400-meter and 800-meter freestyles with times of 5:01.67 and 10:13.40, respectively.

In a dual meet against UNC Pembroke, Jasek-Rysdahl collected four first-place victories to lead the Bulldogs to a win. She won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:26.66, the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:41.01 and the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:43.05. Jasek-Rysdahl would then lead the team to a win in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:55.42.


Converse's Trent Named Week 5 Women's Swimmer of the Week

               

HIGH POINT, N.C.Converse College's Olivia Trent has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Swimmer of the Week for meets swam during the week of Oct. 29 - Nov. 4, the Conference announced today.

A freshman from Evansville, Ind., Trent registered two first-place finishes and one second-place finish while leading the Valkyries to a split of its tri-meet with Chowan and Mars Hill.

In the tri-meet, Trent would pick up an individual win in the 50-yard freestyle (25.29), while leading the relay team to a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:55.13). She would then place second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 57.82.


Barton's Macdonald Named Week 4 Women's Swimmer of the Week

               

HIGH POINT, N.C.Barton College's Nicola Macdonald has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Swimmer of the Week for meets swam during the week of Oct. 22-28, the Conference announced today. This marks Macdonald's first POTW award this season and the second for Barton.

Macdonald, a sophomore from Durban, South Africa, collected four first-place victories and helped the Bulldogs to a pair of victories in a tri-meet with William Peace and King University.

In the tri-meet, Macdonald would win three individual events in the 100-yard freestyle (55.63), 200-yard freestyle (2:04.21) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:37.55). She would then pace the Bulldogs to a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:47.58).


Emmanuel's Simioni Named Week 3 Women's Swimmer of the Week

               

HIGH POINT, N.C.Emmanuel College's Julia Simioni has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Swimmer of the Week for meets swam during the week of Oct. 15-21, the Conference announced today.

A sophomore from Concordia, Brazil, Simioni tallied four first-place victories and helped the Lions remain undefeated in dual meets at 6-0 on the season.

Against Berry, Simioni would win two individual events in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.67) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:34.33). She would also lead her team to a pair of relay wins in the 200-yard medley relay (1:51.53) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:40.42).


Barton's Cathers Named Week 2 Women's Swimmer of the Week

               

HIGH POINT, N.C.Barton College's Kleanza Cathers has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Swimmer of the Week for meets swam during the week of Oct. 8-14, the Conference announced today. 

Cathers, a sophomore from Kitimat, British Columbia, notched four first-place victories, two second-place finishes and one third-place finish to lead Barton to a 1-2 record to open the season.

Against Catholic University of America, Cathers would win three individual events in the 50-yard freestyle (25.47), 200-yard backstroke (2:12.91) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:18.37). She would also lead her team to a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay (1:56.63).

In a dual-meet with Howard and VMI, Cathers would win the 500-yard freestyle (5:28.92). She would then take second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.95), while taking third in the 200-yard butterfly (2:20.79).


King's Mead Named Week 1 Women's Swimmer of the Week

               

HIGH POINT, N.C.King University's Nicola Mead has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Swimmer of the Week for meets swam during the week of Oct. 1-7, the Conference announced today. 

A junior from Brisbane, Australia, Mead posted three first-place finishes and helped the Tornado move to 2-0 by defeating Milligan and Lees-McRae in dual meet action. In the 100 butterfly, Mead would take first with a time of 1:00.93. In the 400 medley and 400 freestyle relays, Mead and company would place first with times of 4:18.20 and 4:06.83, respectively.
