Mount Olive's Hanle Named Week 7 Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Leah Hanle has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Feb. 4-10, the Conference announced today.

Mount Olive junior Leah Hanle turned in outstanding performances in both the mile and 800 meters at the VMI Winter Relays this weekend. Hanle set an NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark in the mile, winning the event with a time of 4:52.81. She also moved into second-place all-time in the UMO record book in the event. In the 800m Hanle placed second with a time of 2:17.15 and also moved into second in the UMO record book. This week marks the third POTW honor for Hanle and Mount Olive this indoor season.


King's Barton Named Week 6 Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – King University's Kirstin Barton has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Jan. 31 - Feb. 1, the Conference announced today.

Barton junior Kirstin Barton turned in a spectacular performance in the 3000-meter elite section at the Buccaneer Invitational this weekend. Barton placed third as the top NCAA Division II finisher with a time of 10:46.42 to set a new personal record by nearly 20 seconds. Barton ranks fourth in the league for the 3000m of this 2018-19 indoor season.

HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Leah Hanle has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Jan. 24 - Jan. 28, the Conference announced today.

Mount Olive junior Leah Hanle had an impressive weekend at the Liberty Kick-Off in Lynchburg, Va. Hanle notched a first-place finish in the women's mile with a time of 4:53:34 to set an NCAA Provisional Qualifier. Hanle holds the fastest time in the mile for Conference Carolinas for the 2018-19 indoor season. 


Limestone's Brown Named Week 4 Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.Limestone College's Zawadi Brown has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Jan. 17 - Jan. 21, the Conference announced today.

Limestone senior Zawadi Brown had an impressive weekend in the sprints at the Gamecock Invitational hosted by the University of South Carolina. Brown notched a first-place finish in the women's open 200m dash with a time of 24.65, setting a new school record and now holding the fastest time in Conference Carolinas for the 2018-19 indoor season. Brown went on to run a time of 7.58 seconds in the 60m dash to secure a 9th place finish and another top time in the conference. Sitting atop the conference charts in two sprinting events, Brown currently ranks top-10 in the NCAA Division II in both the 60m and 200m dashes.


North Greenville's Rowe Named Week 3 Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.North Greenville University's Collia Rowe has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Jan. 10 - Jan. 14, the Conference announced today.

Freshman Collia Rowe had an impressive weekend at the Orange & Purple Open in Clemson, SC to set a school record and hit a personal best in 400 meters with a 1st place finish and a time of 57.58 seconds.

Mount Olive's Hanle Named Week 2 Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.University of Mount Olive's Leah Hanle has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Dec. 6 - Dec. 10, the Conference announced today.

A junior from Lichtenstein, Germany, Hanle had an accomplished weekend at the GVSU Holiday Open in Allendale, Michigan. Competing in the 5000 meter run, Hanle broke the UMO school record and also set an NCAA DII Automatic Qualifier with a time of 16:23.52, ten seconds faster than the auto standard. Hanle placed second in the event behind a DI runner from Eastern Michigan. She defeated the cross country champion from just six days prior who finished the race in fourth. Hanle is currently the #1 runner in the nation in the 5k.


Belmont Abbey's Otranto Named Week 1 Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Belmont Abbey College's Julia Otranto has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for meets held Nov. 29 - Dec. 3, the Conference announced today.

A senior from Asheboro, N.C., Otranto opened up her indoor track season with strong performances at the JDL College Kickoff in Winston-Salem, N.C. this weekend. Competing in the 800-meter dash and 4x400-meter relay, she logged two Top-10 finishes on a Division I-heavy field. Otranto earned a sixth-place finish in the 800m dash with a time of 2:26:46 to rank her first in the conference in the 800-meter dash. Otranto also helped her team to a seventh-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay.


INDOOR SEASON


 

High Point, N.C. – Converse College’s Ashly Sutherland has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Women’s Indoor Track Player of the Week during week three of the 2014 - 2015 Indoor Track & Field season. Sutherland posted a Conference Carolinas best 800m time at the Winston-Salem State Open running the event in 2:17.07 missing the NCAA DII Provisional time by just over a second. The Cowpens, S.C. native leads the Conference Carolinas in the mile event running a school record 5:09.80 finishing fifth overall at the Bob Pollock Invitational against a majority DI field. Sutherland is ranked 15th among DII athletes in the 800m and 37th overall in the mile.
