HIGH POINT, N.C. – North Greenville University's Jeffrey Chandler has been named the NCBWA Southeast Hitter of the Week, as selected by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).
A junior from Scottsdale, Ariz., Chandler led NGU to a 4-1 record last week, which included a 7-3 win over No. 3 Florida Southern. The outfielder notched a .550 average with 11 hits, which included three doubles and three homers, and 18 RBI. His best game was a 4-for-5 outing with a double, two homers and nine RBI in a 15-7 victory over Anderson (S.C.) on Mar. 6.
Chandler currently has a .368 batting average with 33 RBI, eight doubles and six home runs on the season. His RBI total ranks second in Conference Carolinas, while his double and home run totals both rank fifth in the league.
Conference Carolinas is a NCAA Division II athletics conference made up of 11 teams from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. These institutions consist of: Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Converse College, Emmanuel College, Erskine College, King University, Lees-McRae College, Limestone College, University of Mount Olive, North Greenville University, and Southern Wesleyan University. Emmanuel College is currently completing the NCAA Membership Process and will be fully competing in league championships in the near future.
