HIGH POINT, N.C. – Belmont Abbey College guard DeQuan Abrom has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Dec. 3-9, the Conference announced today. This marks the first POTW for Abrom and the second overall for Belmont Abbey.
Abrom, a junior from Washington, D.C., averaged 30.5 points on 57.1% shooting from the field with three assists, two steals and two rebounds to pace the Crusaders to a pair of Conference Carolinas wins last week.
Abrom opened his week with a big performance against No. 20 Barton, as he poured in 32 points, pulled down four boards, swiped four steals and dished out four helpers to lead the Abbey to a 93-79 upset victory. Abrom would follow that outing by just falling shy of 30 points, as he netted 29 points and two assists in a 73-72 win over North Greenville to close out the week.
Abrom currently averages 20.6 points, 3.9 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. His points per game rank second in Conference Carolinas, while his assists rank third.

T.J. Sheppard (Limestone) - Averaged 26 points, three assists, three steals and one rebound in one game.
Jerick Haynes (Lees-McRae) - Averaged 33 points, 11 rebounds and one assist in one game. Posted one double-double.
James Brown (King) - Averaged 20 points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal in one game.
Brandon Simpson (Emmanuel) - Averaged 16.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.3 steals in three games. Posted two double-doubles.
