HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive goalie Andrew Avarello has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week for games played from Mar. 4-10, the Conference announced today.
A sophomore from Clarence, N.Y., Avarello led No. 15 Mount Olive to a 2-0 record last week after collecting 30 saves and a 73.2 save percentage with seven ground balls in 120 minutes of action last week.
Avarello began his week by allowing only three goals with 12 saves and two ground balls in an 11-3 Mount Olive win over Walsh. Avarello would then come up big in a 12-8 win over Florida Southern, as he made 18 saves in the contest with five ground balls.
Avarello currently ranks first in Conference Carolinas in both goals against average (7.24) and save percentage (61.8), while ranking third in goals against (42) and fourth in saves (68).
