HIGH POINT, N.C. - Limestone College's women's lacrosse player Shannon Sisk has been named the Conference Carolinas Female Athlete of the Year for 2017-18, the Conference announced today. The award marks the fourth straight year a Limestone student has won the award and seventh time over the last 10 years.
Sisk, an athletic training major from Brooklin, Ontario, wrapped up a storybook career at Limestone with an accolade-filled 2018 season. Which led the Saints to a 17-3 overall record and 9-0 mark in conference play to sweep the regular season and conference tournament championships. Sisk earned all-tournament honors behind her play and led Limestone to its first bid to the NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Championship since 2014.
Sisk entered the year on Inside Lacrosse's DII Player of the Year watch list and lived up to the hype, posting 125 points on 82 assists and 43 goals to pace the Saints. Her point and assist totals along with her 4.10 assists per game ranked second in NCAA Division II, while also leading the conference. Sisk's offensive performance earned her Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Year and first team all-conference honors, while also collecting second team All-America status and first team all-region honors from the IWLCA.
Sisk set numerous Limestone records during 2018, as she posted single-season records in points (125), points per game (6.25), assists (82) and assists per game (4.10). She then moved into the all-time record books as the program's new leader in points (380), assists (261) and assists per game (3.39).
