Emmanuel Captures Conference Carolinas Women's Swimming Championship; Individual Awards and All-Conference Announced

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The 2018-19 Conference Carolinas Women's Swimming Championship concluded on Saturday, Feb. 9 at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center in Charlotte, N.C. Emmanuel College would capture the women's swimming championship with a team score of 740.50 points.

The Barton College duo of Nicola Macdonald and Kleanza Cathers were named Conference Carolinas Co-Swimmers of the Year, while Emmanuel's Natalie Hayes was named Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year.

Emmanuel's Allen Gilchrest was named Coach of the Year after leading the Lions to the Conference Carolinas Women's Swimming Championship title.

New to the Conference Carolinas postseason award offering is the Elite 23 Award. The Elite 23 Award is modeled after the NCAA's Elite 90 Award, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumlative GPA at their respective championship site. The inaugural winner for women's swimming is Emmanuel's Denita-Sue Pieterse.
