Belmont Abbey's Bonito Named Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Belmont Abbey College setter Cassidy Bonito has been named Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for matches played during the week of Aug. 31 - Sept. 3, the Conference announced today.

Bonito, who hails from Pompano Beach, Fla., led the Crusaders to a 2-1 record at the Catawba Volleyball Invitational over the weekend. The sophomore earned Tournament MVP after dishing out 126 assists for a 10.50 per set average and 31 digs to go with her two double-doubles over the weekend.

On Sept. 1, Bonito posted a double-double with 45 assists and 10 digs in a 3-1 win over Chowan. The next day in a 3-1 win over host Catawba, Bonito would fall one kill shy of a triple-double, collecting nine kills, 41 assists and 15 digs in the match. In the Crusaders' lone loss all weekend, Bonito dished out 40 helpers to go with six digs and two service aces.

Bonito currently ranks first in Conference Carolinas in assists per set (10.50), while ranking fourth in total assists (126).
