HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive’s Leah Hanle has been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets ran during the week of Sept. 4-10, the Conference announced today.
A sophomore from Lichtenstein, Germany, Hanle had a great showing at the Furman XC Classic hosted by Furman University. In her first race of the season, Hanle finished third overall with a time of 20:49.97, which broke her own UMO women's 6k record. The strong race propelled the Trojans to a fourth-place team finish.
Hanle also earned NCAA Division II National Cross Country Athlete of the Week from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for her performance over the weekend. See the full release here.
