Alewine oversees the administration of all 30 conference-sponsored sports and is the primary liaison for NCAA compliance and conference governance.

The National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC) presented its Division II Excellence Award to Alewine for his efforts in the 2022-23 academic year.

During his time at Conference Carolinas, Alewine has successfully helped Conference Carolinas compliance administrators navigate through various NCAA changes. He has also worked with the Directors of Athletics Committee, along with all of the Conference Carolinas sports committees, to codify articles that encompassed hundreds of statutes for sport-specific regulations.

Alewine has also continued to work with the Conference Carolinas Assessment and Planning Committee on a comprehensive reform of the conference legislative literature (constitution, bylaws, sports regulations).

In Alewine’s first year with the league office in the 2019-20 academic year he spearheaded the efforts to modernize the constitution, operating bylaws and sports regulations for Conference Carolinas.

Alewine also worked with the Conference Carolinas campus compliance administrators to update and organize things at a conference level. He also helped to absorb the professionalization of the sport committees at the conference level through the committees’ agendas and reports.

A native of Lodge, South Carolina, Alewine originally joined the Conference Carolinas league office after spending three years as the Assistant Commissioner for Compliance at the Mountain West Conference.

During his time at the Mountain West Conference, Alewine served as the liaison between the NCAA and conference staff on legislative matters, while also supervising the Mountain West Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He was also the sport administrator for women’s tennis during the spring of 2018 and the sport administrator for men’s tennis beginning in the fall of 2018.

Prior to joining the Mountain West Conference, Alewine served at Troy for a decade. He was the Director of Compliance from 2007-14 before being promoted to Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance in 2014. He also assisted with the oversight of 16 sports during his time at Troy.

Alewine began his career in the NCAA in 2005 at Conference Carolinas member Francis Marion where he was the Compliance Coordinator for a year before being promoted to the Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance and Academic Support for the 2006-07 athletic year.

Alewine earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from former Conference Carolinas member Coker in 2002. He earned his Master of Science in Psychology from Capella University in 2005.

A two-sport student-athlete at Coker, Alewine earned varsity letters in men’s tennis and cross country. He was also a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the Student Government Association during his undergraduate years at Coker.
