Anna Schwieger originally joined the Conference Carolinas office as a Compliance and Championships Assistant in July of 2022. Schwieger transitioned into the full-time role of Coordinator of Sport Administration and Governance in the summer of 2023. She was promoted to Assistant Commissioner Sport Administration and Governance in March of 2024.
Schwieger's primary role during her first year with the conference was assisting with various compliance matters, while also serving as a conference liaison at preliminary round championship sites and assisting with the organization of select championships.
The updated role of Coordinator of Sport Administration and Governance for Schwieger will include many of the same duties on a larger scale, while focusing on assisting with the administration of all 26 Conference Carolinas-sponsored sports. She will help to create drafts of agendas, supplements and sport committee meetings and map action items derived from the meetings. She will also assist with interpretations, investigations and other items that arise during the regular season and conference championships.
Schwieger will help with scheduling, moderating and leading the sport committee meetings as assigned and also assist with conference governance and policy matters. In addition, Schwieger will assist with the continual process of updating, modernizing and professionalizing the conference’s legislative literature. She will serve as the primary championships director for multiple championships while also assisting with numerous other championships.
For the three years prior to joining Conference Carolinas in July of 2022, Schwieger had been working as the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance/SWA at NCAA Division II Drury University where she supervised institutional, conference and NCAA eligibility requirements for 470 student-athletes and 22 sports. In addition, she served as sport administrator for the baseball, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country and men’s and women’s track & field programs.
Schwieger also worked with Conference Carolinas Associate Commissioner Kit Alewine at the Mountain West Conference office from August of 2017-July of 2019.
Schwieger started her time at the Mountain West as a compliance department intern before moving into an Assistant Director for Administration role. In this role, she helped develop budgets for 19 championship events along with multiple other responsibilities. Prior to joining the Mountain West, Schwieger was also a Coach Academy Program Administrator for USA Shooting.
Schwieger is a 2017 graduate of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs where she earned her B.S. in Business Administration - Sport Management. She earned her Master in Business Administration from Drury University in 2022.
