A freshman, Hunsberger went a perfect 4-0 at the Carolina Clash at 165 pounds. He started the day with a 16-0 tech fall against Kentucky Wesleyan before getting a first-period pin against Simon Fraser to go 2-0 in the first half of the day on Saturday, Dec. 3.
As part of a 36-12 rout of No. 12 Glenville State, Hunsberger stayed perfect on the day with a strong 10-5 win by decision. In an extremely close match that came down to the wire, Hunsberger held strong against No. 7 West Liberty. Down to the third period, Hunsberger was able to get a point from an escape to get within one before landing a late takedown to win 7-6 and finish 4-0 on the day.
