A sophomore from Huntsville, Alabama, Hay posted a mark of 4.25 meters (13'-11.25") at the JDL College Challenge. The mark was just .05 meters (two inches) shy of the school indoor record). The mark leads Conference Carolinas and is fifth-best in the entire NCAA Division II Southeast Region.
