A freshman from Salem, Virginia, Luper went 2-0 with 12 shutout innings with 10 strikeouts, four walks and nine hits for the Tornado. In a 5-0 win over UVA Wise on April 11 Luper allowed five hits over five innings with three walks and three strikeouts. She capped the week with a complete-game shutout of Chowan on April 16 as she struck out seven with one walk and four hits in the 4-0 victory.
