A redshirt sophomore from Fairfield, Ohio, Shupp at 125 pounds picked up a pivotal victory in Newberry’s title-clinching team win over Lander that sent them to their third straight South Atlantic Conference Carolinas regular season title.
Lander held a 21-9 lead going into Shupp’s 125-pound match, but Shupp recorded a takedown and almost immediately pinned his opponent to pick up six points and eventually help propel Newberry to a thrilling 22-21 team win.
