A senior setter from Pickens, South Carolina, Kaylee Gillespie averaged 8.64 assists and 3.71 digs per set in four matches last week for Francis Marion. She also finished her week with four service aces and four blocks.
Gillespie became just the fourth Francis Marion women’s volleyball player to surpass 2,500 career assists over the course of a week in which she had three double-doubles. In a five-set match with Lee, Gillespie recorded 37 assists to go along with 18 digs. She followed that up with 25 assists and 11 digs in a three-set match with Wingate. In Francis Marion’s three-set win over future conference foe Shorter, Gillespie collected 33 assists and 15 digs.
Gillespie is presently third in Conference Carolinas with 8.15 assists per set. She is 10th in Conference Carolinas in digs per set at 3.70.
