A senior from Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, Mariel Mencia Martinez of UNC Pembroke collected an NCAA “B” standard time in the 50 freestyle last weekend at the UNC Pembroke Tri-Meet. She posted a time of 23.77.
Martinez also claimed top honors in the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.60. She was also the anchor of two relay teams that claimed first in the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay.
