A freshman from Eldoret, Kenya, Kosgei matched the fifth-fastest 5K time in UNC Pembroke history at the NCAA Division I Covered Bridge Open hosted by Appalachian State.
Kosgei posted a 5K time of 18:48.60 to finish among the top 40 in the Division I event.
