A freshman from Cape Town, South Africa, Abouzaid had a fantastic January. She claimed the top time in the mile in all of Conference Carolinas with a time of 5:27.81 at the Mondo College Invitational in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Jan. 15. In addition, Abouzaid recorded the top time in Conference Carolinas this season in the 3000 meters at the event with a time of 10:34.88.
Just over a week later, Abouzaid set the second-best time in the league so far this season in the 800 meters with a time of 2:28.86 at the JDL Flat is Fast Invitational on Jan. 23 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
