A senior from New Columbia, Pennsylvania, Betzer broke the school record in the 5K on Friday night at the Covered Bridge Run hosted by Appalachian State. Betzer's time of 18:54.69 broke the school record by nearly six seconds after it was held by Amanda Cook since 1999. Betzer finished in 33rd place out of 135 runners, which were primarily from Division I schools. Lees-McRae placed 11th overall in the meet.
