UNC Pembroke Claims First Conference Carolinas Women’s Golf Championship

RESULTS | TOURNAMENT WEBSITE | HARTWELL, Ga. – UNC Pembroke led from start-to-finish in capturing the 2022 Conference Carolinas Women’s Golf Championship at the par 71, 5,760-yard setup at the Cateechee Golf Club.
 
With the threat of inclement weather on Tuesday, the originally scheduled three-day championship was finished in two days with the teams playing two rounds on Monday.
 
UNC Pembroke actually saved its best team round for last with the Braves posting a tournament-best team tally of 297 in the third and final round. UNC Pembroke carded a team three-round score of 923 (314-312-297) to capture its first Conference Carolinas women’s golf title.
 
The round of 297 was UNC Pembroke’s lowest since the 2016-17 season.
 
The Braves also collected the top two individual finishers with Georgia Page holding off teammate Toni Blackwell to claim individual medalist honors. Page carded a 228 (77-75-76) over the three rounds to collect the top honors individually. Blackwell finished in second with a two-round score of 230 (75-81-74). Erskine’s Amanda Guzman finished in third at 231 (78-72-81).
 
Page’s second individual tournament title of the season also marks the first time UNC Pembroke has had an individual conference winner in nine seasons. She is just the third in program history to accomplish the feat.
 
Mount Olive finished in second as a team with a three-round score of 959 (331-312-316). Erskine was third in the team standings with a final team score of 976 (323-327-326).
