GREENVILLE, S.C. – The first Conference Carolinas men’s and women’s soccer KPI rankings have been released with Young Harris College atop the men’s rankings and Belmont Abbey College and Francis Marion University tied atop the women’s rankings

The seeding for the conference tournament will be based on the KPI for each institution. KPI is a computer-generated metric used extensively by the NCAA to account for the relative strength of athletics teams using a sophisticated model that includes results (W-L-T), strength of opponents and location of contest as inputs. The Conference Carolinas KPI will be specifically computed using only conference results to create a computer-generated metric that takes strength of schedule of conference contests into consideration.

In the case of tiebreakers (which include any KPI values within the margin of error of .002), should they exist, the conference will use the current tiebreaking procedure.

In the women’s standings, Belmont Abbey (.235) and Francis Marion (.234) are withing in the margin of error, .002, resulting in a tie atop the standings.

The KPI rankings can be accessed via the current standings page on each sport page at conferencecarolinas.com. The men’s rankings direct link is available here with the women’s located here.

This marks the third year Conference Carolinas has used KPI for seeding the conference tournament. The metric will also be used in women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, softball, baseball and for the first time, men’s and women’s tennis. New this year, each of the division winners are guaranteed a top four seed in the Conference Carolinas Soccer Championship and will be seeded by KPI.
