UNC Pembroke, Montevallo capture 2026 Conference Carolinas Swimming & Diving Championships titles

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - The 2026 Conference Carolinas Swimming & Diving Championships concluded with UNC Pembroke winning the women's title and the University of Montevallo winning the men's title.

This marks the third straight women's title for UNC Pembroke while Montevallo finished runner-up.

Montevallo wins their first Conference Carolinas men's title, finishing ahead of Converse University and Emmanuel University.

Day Four Recap
The final day started with UNC Pembroke's Sofia Pereira winning the women's 1650 freestyle in an NCAA Division II B standard time of 17:18.14. In the men's 1650 freestyle, Henry Stockton of Converse took the top spot with an NCAA Division II B standard time of 15:58.31.

Isabell Schiller set a meet record and an NCAA Division II B standard, winning the women's 200 yard backstroke in 2:01.63. Edu Elizaran Galan won the men's 200 yard backstroke with a time of 1:48.76.

The top three finishers in the women's 100 yard freestyle finished within 0.46 seconds. Noelie Lacour won the event by 0.02 seconds with a time of 52.30 seconds. Two NCAA Division II B standards were hit in the men's 100 yard freestyle with Montevallo's Aleksei Kolesnikov winning the event with a time of 44.86 seconds. Aleksei Belolipetskii of Chowan University finished runner-up with a time of 45.12 seconds.

The meet record fell in the women's 200 yard breaststroke as both Benedetta Pepe Pugliese of UNC Pembroke and Catalina Acacio of Emmanuel University broke the previous record. Both set NCAA Division II B standard times as Pepe Pugliese out-touched Acacio 2:16.38 to 2:16.57.
Carlos Arias of King University won the men's 200 yard breaststroke with an NCAA Division II B standard of 2:00.24.

Keara McGee of Montevallo won the women's 200 yard butterfly in 2:06.71. Ben Johnson of Montevallo came back to out-touch Emmanuel's Jan Michalak in the men's 200 yard butterfly. Michalak led nearly the entire race before Johnson finished in 1:52.19 to win by 0.10 seconds.

UNC Pembroke won the women's 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:28.44, edging Emmanuel by 0.46 seconds. Converse came back to edge King by 0.19 seconds in the men's 400 yard freestyle with a time of 3:02.57.

Day Three Recap
Isabell Schiller Emmanuel University started the evening with a an NCAA B standard and winning women's 400 yard individual medley time of 4:21.59. Enrique Llorens of the University of Montevallo came back in the final 25 yards to win the men's 400 yard individual medley with a time of 4:02.01.

Montevallo's Keara McGee repeated in the women's 100 yard butterfly with an NCAA B standard time of 55.58 seconds. In the men's 100 yard butterfly, Aleksei Kolesnikov touched the wall in an NCAA B standard time of 47.73 seconds to win the event.

Britta Schwengle of UNC Pembroke won her third event of the weekend, taking the women's 200 yard freestyle in 1:53.41. Edu Elizaran Galan won the men's 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:40.41, edging second place by 0.15 seconds and third by 0.27 seconds.

In the women's 100 yard breaststroke, Montevallo's Hannah Persson came back in the final 25 yards to take the title by 0.15 seconds with a time of 1:04.78. Barton College's Natan Mometto won the men's 100 yard breaststroke with an NCAA B standard time of 55.04 seconds. Carlos Arias of King University set an NCAA B standard in the prelims with a time of 55.23 seconds.

Montevallo's Petra Cajkas won the women's 100 yard backstroke with a time of 57.31 seconds. Mateus Popov won the men's 100 yard backstroke with a time of 49.48 seconds.

The day concluded with the 400 yard medley relay where Montevallo came back to edge Emmanuel by 0.13 seconds with a time of 3:50.50 in women's race. In the men's 400 yard medley relay, Montevallo took home the title with a time of 3:20.51.

Day Two Recap
The second day of the 2026 Conference Carolinas Swimming & Diving Championships started with the top three finishers in the women's 500 yard freestyle hitting NCAA B standards. UNC Pembroke's Britta Schwengle won the event with a time of 5:01.41 while Eulalie Clech of Emmanuel University came in second with a time of 5:02.53. Zan Morgan of the University of Montevallo touched the wall in 5:03.34 to make the NCAA B standard.

Henry Stockton of Converse University won the men's 500 yard freestyle in 4:37.68.

In the 200 yard individual medley, Emmanuel's Isabell Schiller took home the women's title with an NCAA B standard of 2:02.93. Carlos Arias of King University won the men's title with a time of 1:50.47.

UNC Pembroke's Noelie Lacour won the women's 50 yard freestyle with an NCAA B standard time of 23.57 seconds. Emmanuel's Mateus Lopes won the men's 50 yard freestyle with a time of 20.58 seconds.

The day concluded with new Conference Carolinas record in the women's 200 yard freestyle relay as UNC Pembroke touched the wall in 1:34.53. Converse won the men's 200 yard freestyle relay in 1:22.23.

Day One Recap
UNC Pembroke's Britta Schwengle won the women's 1000 yard freestyle with a new conference record and NCAA B standard of 10:19.32. Eulalie Clech of Emmanuel University also posted an NCAA B standard with a time of 10:21.95.

Henry Stockton of Converse University won the men's 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 9:36.48.

The University of Montevallo won the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:45.98 while Converse won the men's event with a time of 1:30.85.

The opening day concluded with UNC Pembroke winning the women's 800 yard freestyle relay and Montevallo taking the men's title in 6:45.80.
