SALISBURY, N.C. – UNC Pembroke right-handed pitcher Kasen McCawley was named National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Southeast Region Pitcher of the Week, for Week Nine, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.
McCawley, a senior from Haw River, N.C., tossed the first UNC Pembroke no hitter since 2022 and first solo no hitter since 2009. He only needed 83 pitches, 56 for strikes, to cover all seven innings to defeat Shorter 4-0. In the contest he struck out 10 against zero walks while facing 22 batters, one over the minimum.
McCawley advances to NCBWA National Player and Pitcher of the Week consideration, which is released on Thursday.
