UNCP's McCawley selected NCBWA National Pitcher of the Week

DALLAS – UNC Pembroke right-handed pitcher Kasen McCawley was named National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) National Pitcher of the Week, for Week Nine, the organization announced Thursday afternoon.

McCawley, a senior from Haw River, N.C., tossed the first UNC Pembroke no hitter since 2022 and first solo no hitter since 2009. He only needed 83 pitches, 56 for strikes, to cover all seven innings to defeat Shorter 4-0. In the contest he struck out 10 against zero walks while facing 22 batters, one over the minimum.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport.
Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates and official votes in the Howser Award Player of the Year, Regional Player of the Year
and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors preseason All-America awards, publication and writing contests.
