GASTONIA, N.C. – Young Harris College advances to the championship game of 2026 Conference Carolinas Baseball Championship as they will await the winner of Belmont Abbey College and North Greenville University.
No. 1 North Greenville def. No. 6 Mount Olive, 6-2
Mount Olive took the lead with a Josh Mason home run in the first inning as the score remained the same until the sixth inning when Lane McGaha ripped a home run to left center for North Greenville. Mason then hit an inside-the-park home run in the sixth to give the lead back to Mount Olive.
However, North Greenville scored four runs in the eighth inning, two coming on a Joe Cash single. The Trailblazers added another in the ninth to take the contest 6-2.
No. 2 Francis Marion def. No. 5 UNC Pembroke
Francis Marion jumped ahead with four runs in the third inning, two coming on a Charlie Bussey III home run. The Patriots added three more runs in the fifth to take a 7-0 lead. A two-run home run from Ashton Donathan highlighted a three-run UNC Pembroke seventh inning. However, that was all Francis Marion allowed as the Patriots won the contest 7-3.
No. 4 Young Harris No. 3 Belmont Abbey
Young Harris didn’t waste anytime lighting up the scoreboard, plating a pair of runs in the first inning. The Mountain Lions added runs in the third and fifth innings before scoring twice in the sixth inning to take a 6-0 lead. Young Harris put the game out of reach in the seventh inning with a three-run home runs from Sydney Ward and Kade Smallwood to take the contest 12-0.
Young Harris advances to Sunday’s championship game where they will face Belmont Abbey or North Greenville. Young Harris needs one win to take the title while Belmont Abbey or North Greenville will need two wins to win the championship.
No. 1 North Greenville def. No. 2 Francis Marion, 11-3
Josh Foulks lifted a two-run home run in the first inning that gave North Greenville the lead. The Trailblazers added another on a Darrien Whitaker sacrifice fly in the second before Myles Proffitt hit a home run to pull the Patriots within 3-1. Francis Marion added another run in the third, but North Greenville responded with six runs in the bottom of the frame. CJ Dean highlighted the inning that gave the Trailblazers a 9-2 lead with a grand slam. The Patriots added runs in the seventh and eighth innings before Francis Marion scored one in the ninth to make the final score 11-3.
North Greenville advances to face Belmont Abbey in another elimination game at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. The winner will then face Young Harris for the championship at 4:00 p.m.
