Week Four (Dec. 2, 2019)
Alexis Schulz – Belmont Abbey
Schulz averaged 13 points, three rebounds and one assist per game in Belmont Abbey’s incredibly impressive week that included wins over regionally-ranked Limestone and nationally-ranked North Georgia. She shot 62.5 percent (10-of-16) from the field on the week. Schulz was a lethal 4-of-5 (80 percent) from beyond the arc.
A sophomore guard out of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Schulz scored a career-best 21 points in Belmont Abbey’s upset of nationally ninth-ranked North Georgia on Saturday, Nov. 30. Schulz finished the win over North Georgia shooting 8-of-12 (66.7 percent) from the field. She was a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the arc.
Week Three (Nov. 25, 2019)
Quin Byrd - Limestone
A sophomore guard from Fountain Inn, S.C., Byrd scored a career-best 27 in regionally-ranked Limestone's impressive 82-69 non-conference win over Lander on Nov. 23.
Byrd picked up 19 of her 27 points in the second half en route to the 13-point victory. She knocked down back-to-back three-pointers in the third quarter that were part of a 14-2 run that helped propel the Saints to a 14-2 run in the quarter that proved decisive in the game that earned Limestone its first home win over Lander in 33 years.
Byrd shot 10-of-15 (66.7 percent) from the field in the game, which included going 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. She also had five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Week 2 (Nov. 18, 2019)
Shanika Peterkin – Barton
A junior center out of Virginia Beach, Va., Peterkin was fantastic in Barton’s two games last week, averaging 16.5 points, 15.0 rebounds and 5.0 blocks per game. The reigning two-time Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Year also shot 43.3 percent from the field on the week.
In Barton’s 80-68 loss to Francis Marion on Nov. 13, Peterkin finished her efforts with 16 rebounds, 14 points and five blocks. In Barton’s 65-54 win over Elizabeth City State on Saturday, Nov. 16, Peterkin had 19 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks.
Week 1 (Nov. 11, 2019)
Nigeria Davis - Converse
Davis averaged 22 points and 12 rebounds per game last week for Converse. The junior forward from Newberry, S.C. shot an impressive 70.4 percent (19-of-27) from the field in Converse's two games.
In the season-opening win for Converse over Queens, Davis finished her efforts with 27 points and 16 rebounds. She followed that up with 17 points and eight rebounds in a loss to UVA-Wise on Nov. 9.
