HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Johnny Middlebrooks and Belmont Abbey College's Dominic Pautler have been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for meets held April 2 - 8, the Conference announced today.
Middlebrooks, a junior from Chesapeake, Va., had a victorious weekend at the 54th Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va. Middlebrooks ran an NCAA Provisional Qualifying time of 21.33 to secure a first-place finish in the men's 200 meter-dash amongst fierce competition. His time places him second in the UMO records book and third in the conference for this year.
Belmont Abbey sophomore Dominic Pautler had a record-breaking weekend at the Phoenix Invitational in Elon, N.C., setting two new school records for the Crusaders. Pautler cleared 3.97m (13' 0.25") in the pole vault, topping his own record he set last April, then followed the effort with a long jump of 6.84m (22' 5.25") on his first attempt of the day. That mark stood through six jumps for a fourth-place finish.
