HIGH POINT, N.C. – North Greeville University's JJ Sherman and University of Mount Olive's Luke Miller have been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for meets held April 9 - 16, the Conference announced today.
Sherman, a junior from Pawleys Island, S.C., earned Athlete of the Week honors for his second week this outdoor season after landing a top ten finish at the Gamecock Invitational. Sherman ran an NCAA Provisional qualifying time of 10.32 in the 100 meter dash to secure a sixth-place finish at the meet. With this time, Sherman climbed to the top of national and conference charts. Sherman now holds the third fastest time in DII and first in the conference.
Mount Olive freshman from London, England, Luke Miller, had a successful showing at the Pickle Field Day Relays, setting a new school record for the Trojans and earning a potential bid to the national championship with an NCAA Provisional qualifying mark in the javelin. Miller threw a distance of 61.98m (203' 4") to win the event and holds the top mark in the league.
