HIGH POINT, N.C. – Converse College forward Abigail Lewis has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Nov. 9-11, the Conference announced today.
Lewis, a senior from Savannah, Ga., paced the Valkyries to a 74-55 season-opening win over Mars Hill. In just 25 minutes of action she would pour in 20 points on 7-for-11 shooting from the field and 6-for-10 from the charity stripe. Lewis would also add eight rebounds, one assist and one steal to lead the team to the victory.
Also nominated for Women's Basketball Player of the Week:
Kori West (King) - Averaged 12 points, 12.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in two games. Posted one double-double.
Manuela Fungate (Belmont Abbey) - Averaged 14 points, nine rebounds, two assists and one block in two games. Posted one double-double.
Megan Davis (Erskine) - Averaged 18.5 points, six rebounds, two assists and 1.5 steals in two games.
Kianna Wynn (Barton) - Averaged 19.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in two games.
Iva Krstevska (Southern Wesleyan) - Averaged 15 points, six rebounds and 3.5 assists in two games.
Makayla Nichols (Mount Olive) - Averaged 26 points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal in one game.
Lochlain Corliss (Emmanuel) - Averaged eight points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.5 steals in two games.
Karen Donehew (North Greenville) - Averaged 16.5 points, nine rebounds, 2.5 assists and two blocks in two games. Posted one double-double.
