Barton Captures Inaugural Conference Carolinas Women's Swimming Championship; Individual Awards and All-Conference Announced

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The 2017-18 Conference Carolinas Women's Swimming Championship concluded on Saturday, Feb. 17 at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center in Charlotte, N.C. Barton College would capture the inaugural women's swimming championship with a team score of 664 points.

The Limestone College duo of Gabriela Marques Alves Aguiar and Tara Stevens swept the Conference individual awards. Aguiar was named the Conference Carolinas Swimmer of the Year, while Stevens was named Freshman of the Year.

Barton's Tyler Ziegler was named Coach of the Year after leading the Bulldogs to the inaugural Conference Carolinas Women's Swimming Championship.

Conference Carolinas is a NCAA Division II athleticconference made up of 11 teams from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. These institutions consist of: Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Converse College, Emmanuel College, Erskine College, King University, Lees-McRae College, Limestone College, University of Mount OliveNorth Greenville University, and Southern Wesleyan University. Emmanuel College is currently completing the NCAA DII Membership Process and will be fully competing in league championships in the near future.
