LEXINGTON, KY. - Conference Carolinas had eight total volleyball teams be named 2017-18 AVCA Team Academic Award recipients, it was announced on Monday (July 16) by the America Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).
On the women's side, Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Converse College and Limestone College each received the honors. The Barton and Belmont Abbey men also collected the accolades, while King University and University of Mount Olive rounded out the Conference Carolinas honorees.
In addition to the Team Academic Award, the Barton men also made the AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll (Top-25 GPA), while Limestone reached its Dig Pink fundraising goal.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.

The mission of the AVCA is to advance the sport of volleyball with AVCA coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy and professional development.
