GREENVILLE, S.C. – King sophomore Julie Ward has been chosen as the Conference Carolinas Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week after the first week of the 2019 regular season.
The league office made the official announcement on Monday, Sept. 9, 2019.
The reigning Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year, Ward started off her sophomore campaign strongly by averaging 4.20 digs and 3.80 kills per set in three matches at the cross-conference tournament on the campus of Lincoln Memorial in Harrogate, Tenn.
The outside hitter collected a double-double in King’s season opener against Carson-Newman on Friday, Sept. 6, finishing with 19 digs and 15 kills. The double-double was the 15th of her career. She followed that up by ending her efforts with 16 digs and six kills in the Tornado match with Mars Hill on Saturday, Sept. 7.
In King’s dominating win over Lincoln Memorial on Saturday, Sept. 7, the Berthoud, Colo. native had 17 kills and seven digs. In total in the tournament, Ward finished with 42 digs and 38 kills.
