Limestone and Mount Olive Open NCAA Tournament Play on Friday

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla./HICKORY, N.C. – The 2019 Conference Carolinas Men’s and Women’s Soccer Tournament champions will open play in the 2019 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Soccer Tournaments on Friday, Nov. 22, 2019. 

Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Tournament champion Limestone will face off against Francis Marion in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Tournament Super Region 2. 

Limestone (11-6-2) is the 10th seed, while 2019 Peach Belt Conference Tournament champion Francis Marion (15-4-1) is the seventh seed. The two teams are meeting at 2 p.m. on Friday in West Palm Beach, Fla. for the right to advance on to face second-seeded Palm Beach Atlantic.

The Saints are making their seventh straight NCAA Tournament appearance and their ninth overall. Limestone's Roberto Ortega Lopez scored in the 95th minute to lead the fifth-seeded Saints to a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory over third-seeded Erskine in the 2019 Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Championship final on Sunday, Nov. 17 at Electric Supply Company Field. 

The Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Championship title was the third straight for Limestone and its fifth in the last eight years. Limestone has six Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Championships in total. 

Conference Carolinas regular season and tournament champion Mount Olive earned the sixth seed in the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Southeast Regional. 

Mount Olive is making its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. The Trojans advanced to the NCAA Tournament by winning the 2019 Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Championship. 

Two second half goals allowed top-seeded Mount Olive to secure the Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Championship title in a 2-1 victory over second-seeded Belmont Abbey in the tournament final on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2019. 

The tournament title was the first for Mount Olive women's soccer since 2004. 

Mount Olive enters the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Tournament undefeated at 14-0-3. The Trojans will take on third-seeded North Georgia (15-2-2) in Hickory, N.C. at 3 p.m. on Friday at Lenoir-Rhyne. 

The winner of the Mount Olive-North Georgia match will advance to take on the winner of the second-seeded Lenoir-Rhyne-seventh-seeded Wingate match
