Southern Wesleyan's Clanton and North Greenville's Griffin Named Conference Carolinas Softball Players of the Week
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Southern Wesleyan University's Lydia Clanton was named the Conference Carolinas Softball Player of the Week, while North Greenville University's Jaelin Griffin was tabbed the Conference Carolinas Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played Mar. 25-31, the Conference announced today. This marks both the second POTW for Clanton and Southern Wesleyan, while being the first for both Griffin and North Greenville.
Clanton, a freshman from Waynesboro, Miss., led the Warriors to a 4-0 record last week in Conference Carolinas play with sweeps of Barton and Mount Olive. Clanton hit .667 with eight hits, including five extra-base hits (4 2B, HR), with eight RBI and five runs scored. Clanton's best performance came in a 7-6 game one win over Barton, going 2-for-2 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored.
Griffin, a sophomore from Belmont, N.C., posted a 3-0 record, including a no-hitter, and 1.30 ERA for the Crusaders last week. In three complete game appearances and 27 innings pitched, Griffin let up 13 hits, nine walks and seven runs (five earned), while registering 23 strikeouts. Griffin's best performance came in a no-hitter against Barton, she would toss seven innings of work with three walks, one unearned run and seven strikeouts in the 7-1 win.

Cameron Cooper (Belmont Abbey) - Batted .333 with one hit and four RBI in two games.
Jenna Hewes (North Greenville) - Batted .450 with nine hits and five RBI in six games.
Faith Cooke (Lees-McRae) - Batted .286 with four hits and six RBI in four games.
Reagan Davis (Erskine) - Batted .520 with 13 hits and 13 RBI in eight games.
Also nominated for Softball Pitcher of the Week:
Annabeth Watkins (Belmont Abbey) - 1-1 record with 10.1 innings pitched with three strikeouts and 3.39 ERA in two appearances.
Ashton Martin (Southern Wesleyan) - 2-0 record with 13 innings pitched with six strikeouts and 2.15 ERA in two appearances.
Kara Cunningham (Lees-McRae) - 1-1 record with 16.1 innings pitched with 19 strikeouts and 1.71 ERA in two appearances, while batting .154 with two hits and two RBI in four games.
Hannah Houge (Erskine) - 2-1 record with 23 innings pitched with 28 strikeouts and 1.52 ERA in four appearances.
