Mount Olive's Lassiter and Brogden Named Conference Carolinas Softball Players of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Cassandra Lassiter was named the Conference Carolinas Softball Player of the Week, while teammate Haley Brogden was tabbed the Conference Carolinas Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played Apr. 15-21, the Conference announced today. This marks the first POTW for Lassiter, while being the third for Brogden and fifth overall for Mount Olive.

A freshman from Pikeville, N.C., Lassiter led Mount Olive to a 5-0 record last week. Lassiter hit .556 with 10 hits, including five extra-base hits (4 2B, HR), with 11 RBI and nine runs scored. Lassiter's best performance came in an 8-0 game one win over Winston-Salem State, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and five RBI and two runs scored.

A sophomore from Mount Olive, N.C., Brogden posted a 2-0 record and 0.00 ERA for the Trojans last week. In 10 innings pitched, Brogden let up no hits and issued one walk, while registering 14 strikeouts. Brogden's best performance came in an 8-0 game one win over Winston-Salem State, pitching a six-inning no-hitter with seven strikeouts.

Julie Gast (Lees-McRae) - Batted .500 with six hits in four games

Ivorie Maltby (Belmont Abbey) - 1-0 record in seven innings pitched with five strikeouts and 2.00 ERA in one appearance.
Rachel Farmer (King) - 2-1 record in 19.1 innings pitched with seven strikeouts and 1.81 ERA in three appearances.
Jaelin Griffin (North Greenville) - 0-1 record in 11.1 innings pitched with 13 strikeouts and 1.24 ERA in two appearances.
Kara Cunningham (Lees-McRae) - 2-1 record and one save in 18 innings pitched with 19 strikeouts and 1.17 ERA in four appearances.
Hannah Houge (Erskine) - 2-0 record in 14 innings pitched with 13 strikeouts and 0.00 ERA in two appearances.
