Rankings Update: Conference Carolinas Nearing Championship Season Ranked in National and Regional Polls

GREENVILLE, S.C. – With championship season upon us, Conference Carolinas institutions continue to hold strong positions in regional and national polls.

  • The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released the 10th regular season poll of the year and North Greenville remained No. 6 with 388 points while UNC Pembroke received votes. NGU also remained at No. 2 in the Southeast Region with 88 points and two first-place votes, four spots ahead of the Braves who are ranked sixth with 54 points. Belmont Abbey was ranked eighth with 30 points and Francis Marion was No. 9 with 20 points. In the latest edition of the Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division II poll released on April 18, North Greenville climbed to No. 3 with 196 points while UNC Pembroke received votes.   • In the April 19 men’s Golfstat rankings Barton remained No. 17 with Belmont Abbey coming in at No. 20. In the men’s top-50 individual rankings, Bryson Boyette of Barton led all Conference Carolinas student-athletes at No. 10 with Samuel Trueba of King close behind at No. 13. Alberto Dominguez of Ersknie was also ranked at No. 17. In the women’s top-150 individual rankings, Georgia Page of UNC Pembroke represented the league at No. 113. In the April 22 Bushnell/Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll, Barton climbed two spots to No. 18 with 97 points while Belmont Abbey was No. 23 with 60 points.   • In men’s lacrosse, the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA)/Dynamic 2022 Men’s Lacrosse Coaches Division II Poll released on April 18 had both Belmont Abbey and Mount Olive receiving votes. The full poll is available here.

  • In women’s lacrosse, the Inside Lacrosse (IL) Women/Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II Poll was released on April 18 and Mount Olive received votes in the poll which is available here.

  • The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released the April 21st Division II Men’s ITA Collegiate Tennis National Team Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point. The rankings include the top 50 teams from around the country as well as the top 75 singles and top 50 doubles. In the men’s team rankings, Belmont Abbey remained the top-ranked Conference Carolinas program at No. 24 with a rating of 24.707. Barton came in at No. 25 with a rating of 23.364 followed by Francis Marion (47th, 13.803), Mount Olive (48th, 13.053) and Emmanuel (54th, 10.602). In the women’s team rankings, Mount Olive was ranked No. 62 with a rating of 9.098 while Francis Marion was No. 74 (6.182). The men’s rankings are here and the women’s rankings are here

  • On the track, the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the fourth Outdoor Track & Field Rating Index (TFRI) and Mount Olive improved one spot to No. 3 in the men’s Southeast Region Rating with 601.46 points. UNC Pembroke came in at No. 9 with 299.35 points, two spots ahead of North Greenville with 204.76 points. Southern Wesleyan was No. 13 with 188.57 points followed by Belmont Abbey (14th, 162.86), Emmanuel (17th, 131.68), Lees-McRae (18th, 112.39), Barton (21st, 71.22), Erskine (22nd, 55.96), King (23rd, 51.74) and Francis Marion (2.10). 

    The Trojans were also third in the Southeast Region in the women’s TFRI with 646.72 points and they were joined in the top 10 by UNC Pembroke at No. 6 (365.16), Southern Wesleyan at No. 7 (337.91), Belmont Abbey at No. 8 (245.57) and Emmanuel at No. 10 (200.23). North Greenville ranked 13th with 166.13 points followed by Converse (15th, 155.59), Lees-McRae (22nd, 119.06), Erskine (23rd, 87.21), Barton (26th, 65.97), King (27th, 52.19) and Francis Marion (30th, 2.90).
