Conference Carolinas Monday Weekly Award Winners

  • Player of the Week
    Abigail Crain, Belmont Abbey

    A junior forward from Windermere, Florida, Abigail Crain averaged 18.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game in three games last week for Belmont Abbey. She also had a steal and a block. 

    Crain, who has scored in double figures in every game this season for Belmont Abbey, started her week by scoring a season-best 24 points in a road win at USC Aiken. She also had seven rebounds and two assists in the victory over the Pacers. Crain followed that up with 13 points, five rebounds, three assists and one steal in a win at Rollins. She posted 17 points, seven rebounds, four assists and one block in a neutral site game against Florida Southern.

    Defensive Player of the Week
    Peyton Nation, Belmont Abbey

    A junior forward from Springboro, Ohio, Peyton Nation of Belmont Abbey had eight steals and 12 defensive rebounds in three games last week. Nation averaged 11.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 2.0 assists per game. She also had a blocked shot.

    Nation was particularly strong defensively in a road win at USC Aiken with five steals and a block. She scored nine points and also had six boards in the non-conference road victory. Nation just missed on a double-double in a road win at Rollins with 10 points and nine rebounds. She also had two assists and one steal in the game. Nation closed out her week with 15 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two steals in a neutral site game at Florida Southern.

  • Player of the Week
    Tionne Rollins, Francis Marion

    A fifth-year guard from Tallahassee, Florida, Tionne Rollins finished Francis Marion's game with Wingate with a season-best 31 points, three assists, three steals and two rebounds. 

    Rollins knocked down six three-pointers in the game, going 6-of-10 (60 percent) from beyond the arc. He shot 50 percent (8-of-16) from the field overall, while also connecting on all nine of his free throw attempts. His efforts in the game helped him to move within 26 points of 1,000 for his career. 

    Defensive Player of the Week
    Nygell Verdier, UNC Pembroke

    A junior guard from Charlotte, North Carolina, Nygell Verdier of UNC Pembroke was solid defensively last week for the Braves in their three victories, collecting three blocks and three defensive rebounds. He averaged a double-double on the week with 11.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. 

    In UNC Pembroke's win over Fayetteville State, Verdier ended his day with 10 rebounds, two blocks and two assists. He also had five points. Verdier concluded UNC Pembroke's win over Virginia State with 17 points, eight rebounds and two assists. Verdier collected a double-double in the UNC Pembroke win over Columbus State with 12 rebounds and 11 points. He also had two assists and a block.
