Conference Carolinas Sees 12 Programs Ranked in Weekly Update

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Conference Carolinas had 12 programs ranked across seven sports in the latest rankings update.

  • In the week 10 NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors Association (D2SIDA) regular season media poll (Jan. 24) for men’s basketball UNC Pembroke climbed two spots to No. 8 nationally with 273 points. In the week 11 Southeast Region poll released on Monday morning, the Braves claimed the top spot in the region with 60 points and all six first-place votes while Emmanuel was ranked No. 9 with 10 points and Francis Marion received votes.     The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) also released its 10th regular season poll (Jan. 24) and UNC Pembroke, who is 20-1 on the season and 12-1 in league play, climbed two spots to No. 8 with 287 points. The poll is available here.

  • In the 10th edition of the D2SIDA women’s basketball regular season poll (Jan. 24), Belmont Abbey joined the top-25 for the first time this season with 31 points. In the week 11 Southeast Region poll released on Monday morning, The Abbey moved into a tie for second with Catawba with 42 points and one of five first-place votes. Francis Marion moved up two spots to No. 8 with 16 points and UNC Pembroke was ranked for the first time this season at No. 9 with seven points. The full poll is available here.

    The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) also released its ninth regular season poll (Jan. 24) and Belmont Abbey, who is 12-0 in league play and 15-3 overall, received votes in the poll which is available here.

  • In the pool, the third regular-season College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) poll was released this week and Emmanuel is tied for 23rd in the men’s poll with 30 points. The complete poll is available here

    The updated Swimcloud Top-50 men’s dual rankings have Emmanuel 23rd with 690.90 points and Lees-McRae at No. 44 with 614.45 points. On the women’s side, Emmanuel was 36th with 618.30 points while UNC Pembroke was 44th with 602.10 points. The full rankings are available here.

  • On the track, the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the first regional Track & Field Rating Index (TFRI) and on the women’s side three Conference Carolinas institutions found themselves inside the top-10 led by Mount Olive at No. 3 with 250.87 points. Southern Wesleyan was eighth with 119.72 points and Converse was ninth with 115.87 points. North Greenville was 11th with 96.16 points followed by UNC Pembroke (12th, 86.31), Erskine (13th, 75.52), Belmont Abbey (17th, 46.08), King (19th, 33.77), Lees-McRae (20th, 21.85), Emmanuel (24th, 7.82), Barton (25th, 2.35). On the men’s side, Mount Olive ranked fifth with 211.50 points, North Greenville was ninth with 134.53 points and UNC Pembroke was 10th with 94.19 points. Southern Wesleyan was 12th with 66.43 points followed by Emmanuel (14th, 59.06), Erskine (16th, 38.82), Belmont Abbey (18th, 32.25), Barton (19th, 30.70), Lees-McRae (20th, 24.39), Converse (22nd, 18.95) and King (24th, 17.57).   • Off the Block released the second NCAA Division II coaches poll for 2023 and Conference Carolinas led all conferences with three teams ranked in the Top-10. North Greenville led the way at No. 7 with 36 points with Mount Olive No. 8 with 15 points. King and Lees-McRae each received votes in the poll which is available here.
