King's West Named Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week
HIGH POINT, N.C. – King University center Kori West has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Jan. 22-28, the Conference announced today.
West, a sophomore from Shelby, N.C., shot 70 percent from the floor and posted three double-doubles after averaging 22.7 points, 16 rebounds, two assists and 1.7 blocks on the week.
Against Erskine, West shot 9-for-15 from the field and notched 22 points, pulled down 15 rebounds, dished four assists and swatted three shots in the 76-52 Tornado win. West's best performance would come in a 68-60 win over Barton, as she had a career night scoring 28 points and collecting 20 rebounds with two blocks. She then closed out the week with a double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds in a 62-50 win over Mount Olive.
West currently averages 11.3 points and 9.6 rebounds per game while shooting 56.4 percent from the field. Her shooting percentage ranks first in Conference Carolinas, while her rebounds per game rank fourth.
